tell me that fingernails and guns were the same.

Honestly

This was after an incident with a girl at school, Daisy Jubilee*

Apparently, they were both whatever was nearby. Sorry, I don't buy that ********.

I'm kinda ****** off at the anti-bullying policy only ever working one way.

IF[/i I had been fighting with a boy and [i]IF I drew blood and IF that boy had a certain condition then yes, I can construe that they could (both) have been lethal.

Since only boys can have it, and I was fighting with a girl, it rather throws that theory out the window.

This is ignoring the fact that I didn't actually manage to break any skin, let alone draw blood. ((I'm kinda a weakling - just don't get me going.))

Even IF you had drawn blood from somebody with a condition, the wound would be worse with a gun and the chances of death would be much higher. Guns and fingernails are not comparable.

Hmm...and the the ******** tried to tell me they were the same. Mind you, school bans hoodies so I don't know why I'm expecting sense from them. Yeh, apparently 'it was what they had to hand'. I fail to see how a court case involving someone who used excessive force (a gun) has to do with me defending myself.

Anyway, this person was defending their property, I was defending my person.

You can use greater force to defend yourself than your property and I used lesser force to (attempt to) defend my person than this idiot with the gun did to defend his property and they're trying to gave me the ******** tale that its the same.

What a load of codswallop!

Whoever thinks fingernails are just as bad as guns needs to be drug out into the middle of the street and shot. Repeatedly. Point-blank range. With an assault rifle. Using armor-piercing bullets. Then they can come back and tell you which is worse.

Don't you think we should scratch them first?

The next thing you know you are not allowed to wear your fingernails in school.

'Sorry, no fingernails allowed. We have to remove them. Yes, I know it hurts, but school policy is school policy.'

Fingernails and guns are not the same. This person sounds like an idiot.

When they said that, did you laugh til you peed yourself?
What a ridiculous assertion.
You can do far more damage to someone with a firearm than can be done with fingernails.
Come to think of it, I've never heard of a fingernail-induced death.

Yes, following the logic that is proposed by making fingernails seem to be as worse as guns, then soon school officials will be insisting that pencils (they make effective weapons...) and paper and *gasp* dihydrogen monoxide will be banned from school... They will also not allow anyone with martial arts training to go to school because a good martial artist (or even someone who is okay) can use his or her hands and feet as effective weapons...

Not that fighting is the best way to resolve arguments, but what has been done is done. However, fingernails are weak and the only way that they could cause more than a little damage (ie, a scratch that the person can just get over) is if they are applied near the face/eyes or if the person is a hemophiliac.

Just a side note, but a heavy science textbook also makes a good and fairly effective weapon. ;)

Not to mention a hardback copy of LOTR from English!

I think it would all depend on the caliber of your fingernails or if they where sawed off. I think you should call the ATF(Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Fingernails) for clarification maybe you could get a permit for them if you took some fingernail safety courses

Frankly these people haven't gone far enough. Fingernails are too much of a threat!! The only way to save us from this evil is to ban life!! From now on, no living is allowed due to the threat that you might get hurt!! !

Yep. I mean sweatshirts with hoods. Apparently, they're intidamating. Yeh, right. I'd rather not see people's faces if its all the same to them.

Hmm...I wonder if anybody would be willing to start some fingernail safety courses on WP?
Does picking them (like biting but with your other hand rather than your teeth.) count as sawing them off? Or perhaps a safety mechansisim?
Do you have their phone number?

Actually, women can be hemophiliacs.

I didn't know that - yet another reason school's useless.
