I am taking a philosophy class in college and it's cool because it lets me concentrate on being with people.

I have no idea what you are saying. Can you clarify this statement? When I took philosophy,I hardly recall anyone in my class.Do you have group discussions or something?

Perhaps you might find like-minded people there? I took philosophy in college too and aced it. The teacher I had was probably on the spectrum herself. She told us she had inattentive add, and she was really cool and funny. I thought the subject was fascinating.

So what are philosophy classes like? Are they hard? Do they require lots of reading and writing and stuff?

Have fun dealing with the one kid in the class who asks the most annoying, simple questions. There always is one.

Yes. There is always one. Always.

I enjoy certain aspects of philosophy, and I am looking forward to my next philosophy class on epistemology. That will be fun.

I'd say usually, most of the people in my classes didn't say anything and just stared at the teacher or facebooked in class. Then again, it could also be that I didn't pay much attention in my classes because I was either tired, hungry, or didn't listen to the lecture anyway.

Yeah, you will get to learn that knowledge is completely impossible! Or maybe just mutilate the truth using Occam's razor.

"All things being equal, the simplest solution tends to be the best one."

A rather good assessment, I think.

It isn't bad and it makes life easier as to every single question 200 billion+ solutions are possible. I have to say that I am a fan. I just threw that in more jokingly than seriously.

Epistemically you tend to be rationalist though, right?

Of course.

(By the way, I kind of figured you joking.)

That is true. There were a couple of idiots in the class I took.

Well, you are Austrian.

I figured that you figured that, but one never knows.

They can be hard. It really requires a lot of thinking. Also, the level of difficulty depends on what type of philosophy you are studying. For me, Metaphysics and Mind and Body were difficult, but Ethics and Freedom and Determinism were easy. It is a very logical subject though. And yes there's lots of reading.

I give you a lot of credit. I would never be able to get through a philosophy class. I suck at abstract thought. Give me cut-and-dry subjects that require memorization of facts any time! :D

I nearly chose to withdraw from a Philosophy class on Logic this semester (I am not a Philosophy major). But after the first day, it sounded interesting enough for me to decide to stay in it. What's more, of the females of the class, who were about as many in number as the males, were mostly at least somewhat attractive. The trends in my other classes--except Art History, where this is the same phenomenon--are a low male-female ratio biased against females and the females who are in the class are not highly physically attractive. Now, I wonder whether the distraction will affect my grade and I will regret dropping Logic.
