hello.
i am visiting this site for the first time. i am th mother of 2 boys. the elder is 5yrs old. his k-teacher is asking me to evaluate him for asp.we r new in this country and have no knowledge of education system.i am afraid that he will be labeled for his whole life.can plz someone tell me that if he has asp and gets iep in school, will it be mentioned on hi h.s diploma that he is aspie and had iep in his school.will it effect when he applies for a job. i know i am talking about what will happen after 18 yrs but as a mother i am really worried for him. plz help me thank you

I beleive that knowledge promotes understanding and that an early diagnosis is crucial in order to get your don the help he might need. This doesn't however mean that his life has to be any less fulfilling and he can still graduate from high school etc.

Well, it wasn't on my diploma. And it isn't going to affect him getting a job. An IEP is a good thing to have. It'll give him a fair shot at education. Oh, and welcome to America.
