When I was in high school way back when, . . . when Jimmy Carter was President, we had:
American history in 9th grade,
World History in 10th grade, and
Government/Economics in either 11th or 12th grade.
And that creates an opening. I can sign up for a class I have some doubts about. Scope out the class for a couple of days, see if it seems promising. And if it doesn't, transfer from it to government.
Counselors and principals are pretty open to students switching classes the first week.
Plus, it's good diplomacy to be switching to a class, rather than away from a class.
