My AS is very mild (at least in my understanding) and I have been diagnosed since I was around 4 or 5, so I've had a lot of time to deal and make things work. Because of this, my social difficulties, while still present, are not easy to notice. I am anything but a loner, and I have a lot of true friends who accept me and some of the younger ones even admire me.

However, I still have horrible hand writing and organizational skills. And even though a note describing AS and my handwiting/organizational difficulties is sent to my teachers the beginning of each new school year, I appear so outwardly 'normal' that I think they have a hard time believing that I have any special difficulties except for my poor( <--understatement right here, more like ATROCIOUS) handwriting.
Anyway, I sometimes leave my assignments at home and sometimes they just disappear in my blackhole of an acordian folder. When this happens I have trouble explaining that although it seems like I'm just being clumsy and forgetful, I honestly cannot help it.
They think that since I get good grades and can even write essays well, that the note (mentioned earlier) may be overexagerating my difficulties. And since I never use my AS as a excuse and, as I said, appear fairly NT, they do not give me lee-way when I need it or ask for it.
I just wish AS wasn't so hard to discribe.

I had bad hand writing and organizational but I have improved somewhat. AS is the same way for me but I explained the best I can about it.
