argh.
i have yet, in a year of being at this night school (three nights a week), to go over the limit of absences per 'mod' (what a five week course is referred to as). at this point, though, i'm using them all up by the end of the second week and it's seriously turning into an issue. when i was still in college, most of my profs looked the other way. i'm trying to avoid that because the school i'm in now - a junior college/vocational school - is likely to stick to their guns on this.
money goes from me to them.
whether or not i pass my classes should be the 'punishment' if i need to be in class. whether or not there are assignments due specific days should determine grading. if i never have assignments, and my classmates need eight years to learn something, what good is it to have me near tears and freaking out over classes?

odd thing. i dont' have this problem with work, for the most part. oh, i hate my job and need to quit. but the weekly pay check is a concrete enough reward for my troubles.

i think i can pass the pharmacy tech certification exam, though. i've registered to take it and will redouble my efforts to study for it specifically, in addition to dealing with my current class materials. then i can either get a new job, which will make school easier, or re-evaluate finishing the program (the only benefit of which is to say i took it; no actual degree is involved and the reward is passing the same exam i am fixing to take early, as well as a three month externship over the summer if i complete the coursework).

I agree with absentee rules being stupid. You should be able to teach yourself the required material (or whatever method you have) without incurring penalty. However, don't let the stupidity of a rule prevent you from completing classes. If it is a concentration-boredom issue, try to bring a (small) book (I read books off of my smartphone) so that way you are *IN* class, but not 'in' class

i am in night school - - - regular college was too much. this seems to be working. i use all my absences, but i don't go over.

i just was having a bad time because i had been using diphenhydramine (PM/Benadryl) to help get to me class. when i started zoloft, i had to stop taking the diphenhydramine after a couple weeks and really see if it was working or not.

guess what happened?

teacher is very relaxed about it, knows my situation, and that's probably half of the reason i'm able to do so well with it.

well I'm glad that it appears to be working out ^_^
