I am struggling with choosing a university, I want to do English Lit and Creative Writing. I thought I had some choices but then my friend looked at league tables and said the ones I had chosen weren't very good. Most of the "Very Good" universities didn't offer creative writing, not sure why but I guess it isn't considered a proper subject (whatever that means).

I'm probably not going to get wonderful grades this year. My grades will be decent but that's about all. Although everyone says I am intelligent, I struggle with other aspects of school and exams such as organisation and anxiety (I get so anxious in some exams that my mind goes blank.)

Not really sure whether I should stick to my original choices or keep looking.

My friend is doing English Lit with creative writing at Kent university, she started this year. I think she likes the university but according to her the creative writing part of the course is quite boring and she's considering dropping it and just doing english lit. Anyway her first choice was Exeter and so they might offer English Lit with Creative Writing. Exeter has quite a good reputation but they do make AAA offers.

Also, just a thought but have you looked into whether there might be options as part of English / English Lit courses that you can take creative writing modules in. The course might not be titled 'English Lit with Creative Writing' but you might still get to do some.

Good luck with your applications,
-Sarah
