i have a question
next year i might be attending a new school. Its a vo-tech school, and i will be studying electro-optics enginering. Students in my school, sophomores in my school, and a few other schools in the area have the option to attend this school next year. they also have about 15 other shop classes that you can take. Is there anyone who has attended a vo-tech school, and how was your experience with it?

hello d057,
about technical school, i did technical school from 1999 to 2002, I LOVED IT!! the technical school type that you discribe is what is called shared time basis technical school, that means they (may) have a session in morning and a session at afternoon (classes are about 3 or 4 hours long every day) depending on class size and also (if your in special ed) will depend on if they can modify the curruculum slightly to make the class a bit more pleasent to be in or any other modifications you may need to complete the work.
the class i took in the one i went to during high school i did building and grounds maintenance. that basically was mowing and floor buffing and small engine repair (yea, im a female and i did this course!) i enjoyed it and also told teacher about what i observed about door repairing and the custodians lacking knowledge, so some talking and some fixing pretty much exempted me from sitting in a classroom watching boring movies on how to grow plants and identification of different types of plants, but instead fixed doors in differant buildings around the school grounds and other mechanical stuff that was in that course, i still got an A in the course. teacher was hired because he was a grounds superintendent at a golf course and knew his plants and grounds keeping.
after i graduated they sadly renamed the course landscape maintenance and design, basically drawing blueprints of golf courses and yard landscaping and maybe mowing the fields around the school grounds.
about transportation, that, may automatically be provided by your "home school" (academic school that your attending for math, english, sciences and gym class) if they do provide bussing to the technical school, be sure you have enough time to wait for the bus were bus picks up students to go to the vocational school, because some schools, if you miss the bus, they will not turn bus around to get the student left behind.
in 2004 teacher sadly died of skin cancer, RIP to Mr Martin, best teacher i had and actually understood me!
hope this info helps. you may actually enjoy it, have they done a tour of the vocational school?? thats usually done for one day that the regular school takes interested students to see the vocational school to see what its like. if i could do technical school again, or take a time machine back to sept 5, 1999, I WOULD.

sorry, i've been so damn busy i havent been able to get on this for weeks. I'm taking optoelectronics engineering in this vo-tech school. If you dont know what that is, its basically repairing consumer and industrial electronics, working with circuits, fiber optics, and lasers. I have to do a career presentation on this for my school graduation project 2morrow, and i'm really nervous. the career i'm thinking about doing is an electronic engineering technician.
