Hi. I'm an adult w/ asperger's syndrome. I write a blog. Today, I wrote a post for you guys. Just in case your parents would prefer for you not to go to random links online, I'll copy the original post here.

You're Perfect

This post is for the kids. For the kids who feel weird. For the kids who know they think differently. For the ones who feel alone. For the ones who just found out about their diagnosis. And for the ones who are scared.

You are awesome. You are wonderful and you are perfect just the way you are. I like the way you think and I like the way your brain works.

Be yourself. Don't ever let anyone tell you to be different or to be like them. You are not them. You are YOU and you have your own mind! Use it.

I went through my whole life thinking I was weird and alone. I had friends who are still my friends now, but I still felt different. But as I grew up, I realized that it's ok to be different from other people. And maybe I'm not weird. Maybe THEY'RE the weird ones. Maybe we're all weird. Weird is relative. "Relative" means it's compared to what someone else thinks.

I want all of you kids with Asperger's Syndrome or any other difference to know that it's ok to be different and it's ok to be weird. I like you just the way you are.

Do you know what makes me weird now? I have pink hair. Yup. It's true! And I wear socks with snowflakes and frogs and cows on them. I think that's pretty weird for a grown up lady to have pink hair and funky socks. Know what else? I flap my hands and I walk on my toes. And I like it.

What do you do that you think might make you weird or different?

there are lots of thins that make me wierd or different , for example i love trees and plants in general , i love gardening , just like my dad , and sometimes i like to talk to the trees , because i think they can hear me. one day a kid asked me why i was talking to a tree in my school , but i don mind what he thougt of me.

Amen, AspieCarrie! I just be myself, even if it means hanging out with younger/older people/teachers, etc.

Your article gave me an I should stop trying to blend in with the crowd! I need to stand out and feel proud about it! :D

I stand out already, though. I like to wear my cartoon graphic tees that make me look like a 7th grader. I also find antique thing really interesting ^.^ Oh, and I cannot play my music properly with a conductor, I need to play my trombone my way :)

This thread... is... AWESOME.

Thanks for reminding the forums what it truly is to be yourself. :)

I really agree because I like to be myself but feel weird about being my self.
