That sounds good. Your problem isn't witj lying, it's positive thinking you need.

I think your professor saw your value and wanted to help you get a foot in the door. They wouldn't gave added you if they didn't appreciate you and if your work wasn't worth it

I was talking about professors who's name is added as a contributor to a younger scientists paper though they didn't do any heavy lifting so to speak.

I walked into a meeting with several important professors and they introduced themselves. One asked me my role on the project and I said, "Oh I'm just here to take notes today." My boss told me off. "You not JUST anything," he said. "We wouldn't all be sitting here if you hadn't organised it." I didn't do anything worth putting my name on a paper, but my input was still valued.

So it does mean something that your name is on that paper. You may not be the lead author but you contributed something of worth that was valued and useful.

There was also the time I sent some DNA samples to America and they disappeared off the face of the planet. They were collected from a very remote place and difficult to re-collect... we don't talk about that.

So my Aunt knows someone, who knows someone, who is CEO of a company in R&D. They said they'd be happy to help me out with a reference and recommendation, which was a couple of days ago. I'm just agonizing over how to write a cover letter when said company has no position posted so I'm at a loss over how to tailor my cover letter. I have been doing research on the company in the meantime, but it's a relatively new company and the site doesn't offer too much information. So I'm mostly looking through news videos and articles to get an idea.

So I've written the cover letter, rewritten my resume, sent thank you emails and talked to another recruiter, and then I took the weekend to recover from the strain. I'd like to thank everyone for their advice, I managed to write a half decent cover letter that only needed a few revisions, according to my Aunt. My resume also looks way better, I can only hope its enough to help me get an interview.

Thanks and good luck to you all.

Thus far a lot of jobs fired me

The only jobs that I qualify for:. Restaurant retail sales jobs

Extrovert neurotypical jobs

You can't measure "good interpersonal skills"

Anyone could correctly claim that they have good interpersonal skills

It is not "lying"

Maybe ten years later, personality inventories  in jobs could be  discrimination  against introverts

If it's an essential job function, it is not :skull: discrimination  . Even though some applicants have a competitive advantage

If it is not an essential job function, it is :jester: discrimination

:D splitting fine hairs :?

Thus far I have not gotten a job by being  honest

"Be true to yourself  " while job hunting and autistic, does not sound :skull: ( to me) like a good job strategy

Without :jester: false advertising  , it is to your benefit to market your skills and demeanor (personality) in a way that most closely matches that particular job description

One previous job interviewer emailed me and told me that she thought I was not "outgoing" with "good interpersonal skills"

Correct

But it is not  lying  to put  outgoing  on your resume, because it is not factually wrong per se

Splitting fine hairs

It is easier for an extrovert felon to get a job than me

Since I usually fail the personality inventories, I don't get a job interview (not to say that I otherwise would have gotten a job interview)

:skull:

Extrovert felons , pass the personality inventories and get to the job interview

Of the jobs that I have worked at, many did not require a background check

Even if they background check, it's not until the job interview

And the felony conviction  has to be related to that particular job

Convicted felon have legal right in the job process

Autistic and introvert don't

No American Disability Act  reasonable accommodation

@sfbum, that seems to be the reality. I'm hoping for a socialist revolution in America. (Peaceful of course), it would seem inevitable, the backlash against Trump's policy might finally usher in socialism (Socialism as in European socialism, not actual socialism) Just like how the backlash against Obama's skin color resulted in Trump.

I thought it was crazy people chose Hilary, I mean, so many people hated Obama just cuz of his skin, how the hell did they think that a woman would go over well with the electorate. America was not ready for that progressiveness, but now with what Trump has done, it might finally be time.

We'll see though.
