Oh the Christmas Party :)

Haa! I know it's been a while for this topic, but I have an update regarding my Christmas party problem:

Important information -- I work in a group home for profoundly mentally ret*d teens and young adults.

Ok so when I was at work last night and I asked if I had to come into work today (Party starts at 6 -- none of the people that live at the house were going to be there) since I'm not going to the party. My manager says "Oh no, you can stay until your shift ends (10) that's fine with me. We'll have stuff for you to do, and plus, one of the people from the other house (An IRA) has nowhere to go so we need someone to hang out with him until the night shift comes in.

Score! It makes me look hard-working, and sweet, to sacrifice the beloved holiday party to spend time with somebody from the other house...

I'm sure he is anything but thrilled though, we don't exactly have the most interesting conversations. Crap.

Nice that it works out in a way you can live with!

I didn't go to my work party even though someone called to make sure I remembered about it.

I still got to eat the food because they always have some left over for the night crew

I went to my office party last year. They were having it at a Country/Western bar complete with mechanical bull. It was great!! I talked to the people I knew, drank heavily, and rode the bull several times. Didn't really feel the need to mingle.

This year, they had it at a restaurant/bar near the office. No fun things to do. I didn't go.
