I make something like $10 an hour, I bring home around $1400+ a month, gross income is about $20k a year. I'd be happier with $30k, that's about all I'd need to be self sufficient. I don't know what I'd do with $50k+, probably retire early and travel or something.

$400,000 in an account called "maxi direct" which had an interest rate of 7.5%. now it has fallen to 2.75%.

I start work this monday, i'll be getting about $15K / year

Previous to that i've been getting about $3K / year this last 4 years, but that wasn't a real job

I was making 90K as a mechanical engineer but that has been reduced to 65K because of the crappy economy. That is still plenty for me because I lived so far beneath my means. NT's used to ridicule me because of the way I live but I am having the last laugh. They have all lost their houses and mine is almost paid for.

I am just starting a new job at the end of the month. I should be making ~55k. It should be more, but, stupid economy.

yeah, I know what you mean. I was making 50,000$ a year with Arthur Anderson Consulting and then the bottom dropped out. I lived in a tent on my friends land in Oregon after that cause my 401-K went non-existant. I finally crawled up out of the forest again 3 years ago and have a pretty safe job in medical claims fraud detection for Medicare for 27 grand a year before taxes and that includes my medical and dental. I figure the baby boomers going into Medicare will need me until I finally retire when I am what. . .75 now?

Interesting to see from time to time that many aspies live with just the minimum.
BTW at my last job I saved enough even though the pay was not much. A girl that earned the same was surprised that I had saved that much, and she started working there months before me.

Last job I made $7.15 us, and was slave labor, like diging ditches by hand
Bicycle racing, after I pay for expensis that arnt coverd, I dont even break even.

That's because we just have no want, need or desire for shiny, pretty social status things like SUV's, McMansions and designer clothes. A roof over my head, food on the table, comfortable clothes on my back and a reliable car to get from point A to point B are enough for me.

18$ or so US .. with a 8 or so dollar package tacked on to it per hour to cover dental, vision, health.

I earn about £7.50 an hour. Unfortunately, my physical disability limits me to working part-time, so I don't earn enough to live off.

I might be poor, but I can load everything I own into my car

and go places and experience life. I always wounder, the people that go home to there mansion, and sit infront of there 60" TV, have they experienced life, and are they really happy.
