The driver's seat in my 1998 Chevy Cavalier no longer adjusts- it is permanently reclining. As a desperate measure my best friend switched the passenger and driver side front seats so I could have back support while driving. It does require buckling the seat belt into the passenger side receptacle and using the seat belt extender

He recommends getting a driver's seat from a junkyard so he can perform a transplant.

I just got my license and now drive to and from work in my mom's old car and we got a new car for her together.

I drive, and I do so pretty well. I blare loud music without giving a care. I do put my windows down out of consideration though. And I turn it down when I'm at a red light. But I like to JAM

Yes i drive. But only cars with automatic tramsmissons and currently dont own a car. I live in Victoria, Australia our driving age is 16 for a learner permit and 19 for a probationary licence. Most people wait until their 20s to get a licence here because there is good public transport and under 21s have to get 120 hours before going for their probationary licence. Also drinking at 18 (drinking age) is seen as more of a right of passage driving not so much. At 16 there is no way I was ready to get my learners I was extremely socially and emotionally immature and mum wouldn't let me. I tried a few times over the years after I was 18 didnt need permission to get a learner permit before finally passing in April 2007 at age 27 by then I felt ready even if my family still didn't think I could. In Feb 2008 I took my first driving test and didn't pass before passing on 25th August 2008 at 28.

For those of you unfamiliar with the Victorian system I now have a probationary licence and can drive alone with some restrictions.

In Victoria Nineteen (driving age) as of July 2008 or twenty year olds have what is known as P1 (probation 1) they are required to. There are few of these as most people go for their Ps in their 20s some older.

Those aged 21+ and 19-20 year olds after a year go into P2 (probation stage 2) for three years. I am in this catergory and I am required to.

I'm 24 and have been driving since 17. I have been in a couple non-emergency accidents and I'm on to car #2. I did not see the other car, swerved, and hit the island in the middle of the road. My peripheral vision failed me.

I find that the only way I can travel long distances, or sometimes even around this city, I need my GPS to constantly talk and show me pictures of the direction I am supposed to drive. Without it, I'd be lost. I've driven from Maine to Florida, Florida to Maine, at least 2 complete round trips and on my own. I find it extremely nerve-wracking, but I did it anyways.

I never thought that I would drive, and that's why I waited later than the 15 years old at which I could have had a drivers permit. I remember to turn down the radio, get a Bluetooth for the cell phone, and focus on the road. Many of my LD friends from my ld only college in Florida (ld-only, so look it up...yes, it is recognized by all accrediting bodies) they don't drive either because they don't want to or cannot obtain the necessary paperwork to drive. I have 3 AS friends that drive, yet their parents come and drive their car the 3 states home on breaks and vacations, something of which I never had the luxury.

I have never had the radio on or used a mobile phone whilst driving it would be too distracting. I can talk to people though when driving but it took practice.

I don't talk on my cell while driving because (a) it's dangerous, and (b) in some places, you can be ticketed for it.

I flunked my first driving test because the person testing me told me "Now we are going to continue through the light and turn left ..." so I did. The light was red. I take things very literal. The instructor was incredulous that I went through the light. I tried to explain that I was just doing what I was told. They wouldn't let me test for another 90 days. I passed my second try. Got a different person.

I grew up and lived for most of my life in a small town. I did okay driving until they starting putting in roads where cars merge. Then the city installed round-abouts all over town. As the town grew it got harder and harder for me to drive. We recently moved to a large city and I stopped driving. My husband drives or I use public transportation.

I'm not a good driver unless there is very little traffic and I know where I'm going. I have problems driving at night, especially with headlights coming at me. Had to learn to look at the fog line and not directly at the car coming at me. I don't like to quickly switch lanes, merge or pass. I have problems with directions, spatial awareness, depth perception, am hyper sensitive to sounds, noises, and get sensory overload when there is a lot of traffic or I am stressed. Driving in the rain, fog, freezing rain, snow or hail cause my stress to go to a high level.

No music or phones for me when I am driving and I get physically sick if diesel fumes get into the car I am riding in. I also have problems using mirrors and find it almost impossible to drive backwards. Only a child or a very brave adult will ride in a car with me driving.

I learned to parallel park by counting. I align my car correctly and start counting as I go slowly backwards into the parking space. I know how long my car is and how many numbers it takes to be in proper alignment. Took some figuring out but it always works for me. Takes a long time though. If I don't do it for a while it may take me a couple of tries to park.

A few years ago I started to panic while riding in a car as a passenger. It has gotten worse until now I stay home rather than ride with people. I think my depth perception, etc. is getting worse. As a passenger I seriously think that the driver is going to hit other cars or that cars are going to hit us. I feel like I'm in the bumper car pit at a carnival. I'm not sure what to do about it. I sense the same thing while riding a bus so I know it is a sensory issue, rather than some irrational fear.

My temp license expired two months ago, I need to go back and take the written test again. I still haven't gotten my permanent license, even though I've taken the test numerous times. I just can't seem to get up the energy to do it.
