Hello all, i got a job a few weeks ago as a "Kettle Operator," which is pretty much loading, running, and maintaining a industrial high pressure/temp cooker. Now, im still working the other p/t job on the weekends (since it'll end soon for the season), so for the last 3 weeks (+/-), ive been working 10-12 hour shifts (48+ hours a week) during the weekdays, plus another 13 hours or so on the weekends (the weekly job starts at 5:30 am, and usually ends between 4:30 and 5:30 pm), and still a few more weekends left until the p/t ends. Exhaustion aside, im hoping to last until June and see if the new job will work out (assuming this coming week doesnt break me, as the fellow co-workers are scaring the crap out of me with what has to be done this week). Im hoping to keep the job long enough to decide whether or not its worth it, but at the same time the place runs an odd schedule (will be down a few months each year due to lack of orders), and im trying to move out of my parents' home since they're trying to move out and take care of business out of town for a few years.

To sum up, im working about 50+ hours a week, and get about 6-8 hours of sleep each night (save Sunday due to the weekend job running til 9:30 pm or so). Doing ok so far, but the stress and lack of physical rest (that im used to) is catching up . . .

Congratulations on your job(s). If possible, try to evaluate how you feel about your kettle operator job only after the other job has ended. Two jobs is always hard, and being tired can lead to poor judgment and discouragement. I think I'm saying 'hang in there.'

It's doing ok, was on edge Mon and Tues this week (lack of sleep + lots of stuff being piled on me by supervisor). I at least get half of today off, plus Fri and Mon . . . but for the next few weeks, we'll be making stuff that requires caustic materials (chems - short for chemicals, as how i use it - that react with everything and is a lot more powerful than acids). At least i wont have to worry about chicken-based products for a while, and the p/t job on weekends will be done with in two more weekends.
