I've been thinking about what characteristics I'd most like in a job/career. In the end I just decided I want to work alone. I can see why bosses don't like the idea so much. Last job I ran my work station alone, so well that I actually took on several surrounding work stations and ran half the floor on my own, freeing up people to work in other areas. BUT I observed a lot of bludgers who would hide in alley ways with cups of coffee, or take six cigarette breaks in an hour. In a situation where it's a case of 'must be able to work unsupervised', I'd say some could do it, some shouldn't.
Thinking about designing a career path, I'd love to just be left alone to do my job. No noisy environment with lots of people to trip over. I suspect Aspies would be over represented in this desire.
SO! Lets see if we can design a definitive list of jobs that meet this criteria.
Adam's job (in the movie 'Adam') as electronics engineer (he had his own nook) fits the bill.
Architect.
Fine artist.
CAD operator/drawer.
Jeweler.
Writer.
Any other ideas?
