Incoming interviews! D:
So, I just got picked for an interview with TWO prospective, entry level marketing jobs, and the first one is tomorrow morning.
I know how to show myself in a positive light, and I have a very friendly personality.
I'm one of the lucky guys that has worked with animals and children for the majority of his teen years, so I'm somewhat in tune with how other people react to things, and how I should re-react in turn. I'm good at making friends with people, if I can actually bring myself to talking to them.
Polite, good posture, firm handshake, and attention to details - all are positives in an interview, as is dressing for the job.
The problem, though? These are the first workplace interviews I'll have ever had. Any advice for a newbie?
And perhaps this thread can stay afloat with general advice on interviewing as an Aspie.
Good Eye Contact.
Neat, clean and presentable.
Answer the question asked. So many times have I heard people answer questions we didn't ask.
Pause a moment to gather your thoughts before answering questions (except of course yes/no ones)
Ask at least 1 question when they say "Do you have any questions?"
A good question is "How will my performance be measured?" Or "What are the performance objectives for this position?"
I know you like your hair long and like having a beard, but the shaggy look is definitely out with people who do the interviews to hire others. Most business places want guys to have short or only slightly long hair and no beards. The beard can sometimes get by if it is very neatly trimmed. The long hair might get by if it is neatly tied back in a pony tail.
I, myself prefer it when guys have short or only slightly long hair, and no beards. But again, if the beard is neat and the hair tied back, then it definitely looks better. Untied long hair and untrimmed beards look untidy, and will usually keep you from getting hired. So neaten up before the interview.
My younger brother prefers long hair. In hot weather or when other wise needed, he does tie it back. I am female and prefer short hair,
as it's easier to take care of, although I look better with long hair.
So do your own thing, but be neat about it. ![]()

Thanks for the advice!
I'll trim up a bit, since I wouldn't feel like myself without a beard.
I usually wear my hair up anyway, due to the comfort and manageability of it that way. It's only down for social situations, like parties.
The "Ask at least one question" idea is a very good piece of advice, IMO.
I wouldn't have thought of it on my own, so thank you very much for that one.
I'm an honest person with a load more charisma than is typical of someone with AS, so I feel that I may be able to escape having my hair cut short (which, in my experience, looks *terrible* on me, no matter what style).
