Recently I started hanging out with my neighbors and smoking weed with them. And I'm getting packages delivered filled with weed to their door because we only live in one big house and I live in the basement and we only have one mailbox. I can't find a job and I've been living on disability for a long time, about two years now. I'm afraid if they ask me how I pay my bills and I tell them the truth, that they'll pretend the packages didn't come and they'll steal my weed from me. Do you think it's a good idea to tell them the truth? Do you think they'll get mad at me? I've had 29 jobs and I've been fired from most of them and I don't have any references so it looks like I've never had a job in my life.

If you don't trust them, don't tell them. Personally, I know it can be very difficult to judge who to trust and reveal sensitive information to. But if it's a matter of your well-being-- I would recommend don't tell them. There's too many ways it can go wrong. And despite most Autistics I know (including myself) being very open and trusting ("Because why would anyone use this information to hurt me? I wouldn't ever want to hurt someone like that!")-- most people are not worthy of that trust. Nor do most people give a s**t or have any empathy for people's circumstances regarding poverty and disability. I mean, I've never run into a stoner who would judge too harshly about how you make your income-- but if you're worried about them stealing, it's better to err on the side of caution.

If they ask, YOU ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO ANSWER unless they are your landlords and are threatening to evict you without this information. Otherwise, if they ask in a friendly social context, it's OKAY to just not answer them-- or lie. It's not their business anyway. If they know you're on disability, just make them believe most of your money comes from that. Or if you think they'll be suspicious-- tell them you make some money on the side sometimes (doing writing or other freelance stuff).

But then again, it's just my opinion, based on my experiences. You are the ultimate judge of what's right for you in your circumstances. Hope you find a solution.

The whole "boxes of weed coming to my door"-part of your story sounds completely messed up. Don't smoke weed that is sent to your door!

Also, people who smoke a lot of weed shouldn't care too much about what kind of jobs you've got. Just tell them that you are looking for a new job or whatever.

I would not tell them about the weed. The day they get pissed off at you, they'll fired up a call to the cops you are dealing. It won't matter that the neighbors smoke too.

Until weed is legal, trust no one.

Why can you pick up the herb yourself? I'd want to check out the stuff myself.

If you get busted, will you loose your disability?

Same here

I would honestly say you're taking a lot of risks.

Your housemates could take your weed. They could rat you out. Someone at the post office may smell the weed--then you're screwed!

Frankly, I would continue to buy the weed from my own dealer--not have it mailed!

You really could get into lots of trouble because of this.

While you're in jai/prison, you get no disability. They might cut you off from it, too.

You are lucky the disability worker didn't chew you a new orifice.

Somehow taxpayers don't go high five good job when you buy dope on their dime.

What possessed you to tell a government official that you are buy illegal drugs with your check? Here, you'd be looking at a state appointed guardian for your finances. Which means you get some fool doling your money like a parent.

Dude, FFS get your act together.

If you do drugs, keep that s**t on the down low. Do you want hassle with the law?
