I thought this was interesting:

Peter, Evan and Brian work at a small technology firm based by the beach in Santa Monica, testing software and fixing bugs.

On first inspection it seems like any other Los Angeles-based company, with tasteful art on the white walls and calm-inducing diffusers dotted about.

Peter describes the working atmosphere as "quiet, but fun", and especially likes the fact that there is no pressure to socialise, while Evan says of his employers that they are "very accommodating and understanding". Brian describes his office as "unique".

Auticon, previously known as Mindspark, is one of only a handful of companies that cater exclusively for employees who are on the autistic spectrum.

Good to see more companies like that pop up. There are more that have shown up over the years:

Unit 9900 doing GeoInt (Israel):

I don't know. I could see a discrimination lawsuit coming from an NT over this.

It's a cool idea but I would think it would be difficult to accommodate everyone's different sensitivities. Diffusers, for example: if they mean machines that scent the air with some kind of fragrance, I wouldn't like that at all.

I wish they'd do something like this for something that isn't technology-based. Not all of us are gifted in that area. But a workplace like this sounds like the only way I could ever get and keep a halfway decent job.

My thoughts exactly; this kind of thing would probably be illegal in my country if they really have a strict "no NTs" rule (which is the impression I got.)

If the company pays a less than the prevailing local wage for the same type of work at other local companies, then I doubt that you will see anyone except autistic people applying to work there.

Strange how you never hear about an NT filing a discrimination suit against a company that almost exclusively hires people with Down Syndrome at less than minimum wage ...

Unit 99 is not a good thing. Nationalizing hacking ability is a crime against the actual culture of hacking.

Dude Geospatial technology is my job. I don't think governments should have a monopoly on it.

You typed "hacking" and that has nothing to do with geospatial int. They stare at images all day and do pattern matching in their heads to identify things like tanks, you would know that if you took 2 minutes to read the link. 9900 is not 8200.

Besides, i don't share your opinion about nationstate hacking. Eventually you have to fight back in some way that is better than launching nukes. Watch the movie "Zerodays" and you'll get to know why Bush JR started it and Obama continued it.

Now, can we get back to the thread?
