Left my volunteer job

I recently just left my volunteer job yesterday. It’s been a fair six-and-a-half years. (The last of my college influences to leave behind and the least of my worries).

That's a pretty good run, especially in volunteer work. What were you doing, if I may ask?

I was pushing patients in wheelchairs to appointments, delivering blood samples to the labs, covering the secretary in absence on the phone, it was quite an experience to be talking to American veterans.

Same here. What do you do for a living?

I'm an audio transcriber.

Ok so there are like transcription devices you work with at your job? At the Museum where I work at we have transcribing machines on display in our exhibit for the blind. They are called Braille machines for the blind and deaf.

No, it's not like that. We transcribe the recording while it's playing. I use a foot pedal to control playback speed. It's kind of like being in a courtroom, but you get a little more time to type everything.

That sounds nice. How do you like your job?

It suits me very well. There can be stressful days, like any job, but overall, it's interesting and educational, even.

Oh cool. It seems like an interesting job.

Probably not as interesting as working in a museum! (Lucky you).

What do you like most about working in a museum?

I like seeing the people come in and out, the board meetings set up in our conference rooms, cashing people in and out, and mostly scheduling tours. One thing I hope for one day is to become a tour guide.

It sounds like you have a real passion for it. I hope it won't be long before you're conducting tours.
