What did the client do to deserve being fired?

It was repeated offenses like missing meetings or being late, demanding delivery of quotes or projects with no lead times and worst of all late payment, and expecting us to chase them for our money. And of course blaming everyone else but themselves for their incompetence.

We have a firm three strikes rule these days. Treat us well and we're the best agency on the planet. Treat us badly and we just walk away. It's a shame to say, but we get far more respect by being professional than being nice to people. I use my aspie side as armour when I do business these days. I do not work for people to make friends. Grrrr.

I'm glad to hear standing up for yourself worked out so well for you and that you're feeling GREAT. I have a hard time feeling sure that I'm being ill-used, I always question my judgement, that maybe it's just an NT thing that I'm misunderstanding. I'm happy to hear you just trusted in your perception that this client was out of line and didn't take his/her garbage. Good for you!

Thanks. As somewhere here said, aspergers breeds strong people. I keep my soft side for my friends and the people who deserve it. Respect should be earned whoever you are. Just having a job title doesn't do it in my book. We will deliver what we have done to date when they have paid, and then they are on their own. I do not reward bad behaviour in toddlers or clients.

I'm not sure that I would ever have the courage to fire someone...I would be worried that they would seek revenge on me.
It's good that you can fire people though...as sometimes, it is a needed skill!

Unfortunately it's part of doing business and you can't let fear of people rule you. It has to be fun or pay well otherwise I'm not doing it.
