Is anybody in corporate America?

So I guess Im in the point in my life where I need to either decide leave my current job or stick with it for the next few years. Im in a leadership role at work which I know is very similar to corporate America. I used to hate but... its all I know is being an administrative firefighter/problem solver. Trying to decide whether or not to get out and work in corporate America for a few years or work stay in corporate government the rest of my life. Its like a rock and hard place sometimes

Is anyone out there in the corporate world running any sort of operations? What kind of operations? How stressful do you find it?

stress is where you find it. we can be just as stressed by small stuff as by 'big' stuff. I am also a firefighter/problem solver and sometimes my AS gets in the way, but mostly it is the the reason I have my job. I have a friend that is AS, too. She is retired now, but as a physician found her niche in emergency medicine. We can be very cool under pressure, find the chinks in the armor, catch the flaw in the pattern, lead others to the logical conclusion and get the job done with finesse.

living with AS is always between a rock and a hard place. You didn't say how old you were, how long you have been in your field or your career. That would be good to know before I actually gave you any info I have from my own experience.

Im 25 and well... I've been in this career since I was 18. In college I joined a leadership specialty group with this organization, engineer by major but don't really use it at my job. My wife and I are getting sick of being moved to s**tholes across the country and my commitment with the organization expires in a year.

I used to work for a large high tech company and we hired retired firefighters, law enforcement, and military personnel to be subject matter experts. They'd go out do trainings or attend conference, help develop marketing materials, help product development.

Things are kind of sucky right now but as the stimulus money reaches the states and cities, more and more companies will start hiring to provide products and services to the government agencies and such.

From what I've seen money is coming quickly to first responders.

Corporate life is probably not much different from what you're used to, as far as the politics, but you will get frustrated with the lack of teamwork, urgency, chain of command, and good leadership. (Unless you get lucky - which is totally possible!)

But the money and benefits are good - so its worth checking out!
