Quite honestly, I am really bothered by your conversation with this man. It is not your job at home to discipline the child for behavior at school, and yet he implies it is.

It is really common for this to be the line of thinking, I am afraid. This was implied or directly told to us more times than I can remember, including from the person up in the district who was supposed to have done work specifically with autistic children.

At first I protested it. Them I tried it, knowing it would not work, mainly just to say I tried it, which to this day I regret doing. Sometimes I pretended I did it, and didn't, especially later when It was clear I gave it more than a fair chance to work and it made things worse.

Hey CyberDad,

How is your daughter doing now--four years later? It would be interesting to see the evolution of her education from 2011.
