No personal experience here, sine toilet training wasn't an issue for us, but I did come across a book specifically regarding autism when I was browsing Amazon for something else:

Toilet Training for Individuals with Autism or Other Developmental Issues: Second Edition [Paperback]
Maria Wheeler (Author), Carol Stock Kranowitz M.A. (Foreword)

At least that is how I interpreted your first post (your statement "I wouldn't try to do this" seemed to imply that I was !)

One thing I am keenly aware of is that whenever ASD or BAP traits are in the picture, it's often best to try not to read beyond what was said, or, if you feel that something really demands this kind of interpretation, verify your reading with a direct question--e.g., "did you mean x when you said y?"

I have a very long, detailed memory. I can recall the events of my early childhood with considerable detail. Some memories I don't particularly like to revisit, but I can say that I had some trouble with toilet training.

The problems for me were pain and fear. I had chronic GI issues and these were often quite painful. This created an aversion to the process. Only a greater aversion to the shame, humiliation and really quite unpleasant physical consequences of accidents eventually broke that nasty cycle.

I wish you the best of luck with the next year or two of this process.
