Have skimmed responses and agree strongly with toddler-focused tv. My daughter learned a lot from Yo Gabba Gabba, Ni Hoa, Ki-Lan, and Special Agent Oso. Not just language, either. Some of the episodes helped her with social skills as well. For example, she still remembers that "bragging" is "cheering for yourself too much." I don't remember which cartoon it came from, but she also remembers "when you cause a problem, here's what you must do: first you say you're sorry then you help to fix it, too!" Special Agent Oso breaks every day things down into "three special steps" and that construct helped me to teach a whole range of things because it got me to thinking about how to break things down into three special steps.

I know a lot of parents are strongly opposed to TV, but I would be a liar if I said that it wasn't an important learning tool for both of my kids. I think that cartoons take most non-verbals out of the equation and help kids like our s focus on content in a more straightforward way. At least that is my theory.
