phosphatidy serine??? advice please
Now NZ is one area that I am not familiar with BUT if you check out my post above you will see I have put in links to a specialised PS FORUM that was set up only a few months ago. I have a feeling we may have a NZ there.
Hi Jelibean. Excuse my ignorance, but I went to the forum and don't know exactly what I'm looking for. I did a search under "New Zealand" and nothing came up.

Should add that anyone taking PS for the first time, especially those with ADD or Aspergers may notice a light headed feeling! This is perfectly normal from what I can tell, it is the body relaxing!! When it wears off anxiety may return so be ready for that! A few folk have told me they feel drunk for the first couple of doses! Perfectly safe though! ![]()
Apparently the best food sources for the amino acid serine are : meat, dairy, gluten in wheat, peanuts and soya.
Absorption increases with niacin/Vit B3, Vit B6, and Folic Acid ( green veg) .
Another reason perhaps why, following a gluten-free-casein/dairy-free diet, ( 6 months now) I find the paleo diet, ( the last 3 weeks, incl. lots of meat, green beans, fresh parsley, and lettuce, and avocadoes,) energising, feel stronger/more capable of activity. ( like going myself to take son for academic inspection, rather than begging the papa to, or running away, etc) !
Meat is Good.
I can't believe how long I've spent believing that starchy carbohydrates are good for health.

Thanks for that!! Eggs is another one I THINK! But to be honest there is nothing out there food wise that will bring some folks levels back up to within normal limits. This is in regard to Serine of course. The addition of the phospolipids are just as important though IMO!
The within normal blood limits range is 90mmols/litre - 280mmols/litre. My son was flying in at 78 so we could not rely on foodstuffs to replace that big deficiency hence the use of supplementation! Which thank goodness has been remarkably successful!!
The best way to go is obviously to request a sweep of Plasma Amino Acids although I do know folk who have gone straight for the supplementation without a blood test. Your choice entirely. A blood sweep via a private lab would be in the region of £100 ![]()
Someone asked me a question about this, and this is what I said:
I am on blood thinners, so I don't touch ginko anymore. That's a pity because that ALONE seemed to help me mentally a bit. Also, I guess a LOT of people feel that way, because it is POPULAR! It is in probably about 90% of the brain products here. I had to look for a while to find a product that didn't have it!
Phosphatidyl Serine can help with many things, and is needed by the brain. I really don't know if there is an ability to overdose, but I have taken 2GMs with NO ill effects. You don't need anywhere near that much to see an effect though. BTW I am talking about STRAIGHT PS.
Phosphatidyl Choline is a VERY old and well known supplement with a long history. I saw a writeup like 30 years ago about choline/lecithin and how they have been shown to actually increase IQ. Frankly, I believe this is simply a facilitation of faculties that you always had. Still, it IS a needed raw material for neurotransmitters. Choline and lecithin are in a great number of foods. Lecithin has a high concentration of choline, and "Phosphatidyl Choline" is simply the phospholipid form of choline. For a while, I was taking this in peanut butter, and cocktails.

BTW acetyl-choline has been shown to ret*d and even somewhat reverse the effects of alzheimers!
Phosphatidyl Ethanolomine is used in building white matter, etc... ALSO, if you DID get too much, or had a better use for it, it could convert to Phosphatidyl Choline.
Phosphatidyl Inositol is used in various reactions, and I have taken a lot of IT as well, with no ill effect.
As I said, you shouldn't go overboard with ginko but, for the most part, the average person will have few problems as long as they don't go way overboard or they take enough vitamin K. Vitamin K is in a LOT of things.(Green vegetables, spinach and Soy are probably the most popular, mustard, pickles, etc...) ALSO, the average normal multivitamin probably has like 25% of the RDA. Of course, I don't suggest you take vitamin K only supplements.
But TRY IT! It can only help. If it helps, as it probably will, GREAT! If you find it doesn't? Well, not everything works for everyone.

WELL SAID. My sentiments exactly! Even if you buy ONE pot and share a few, you will soon know if it is going to work for you!! I have not found one person yet for whom it doesn't though! Even when you think it doesn't it DOES!! ![]()

Had to butt in again folks just to tell you that the stories we are hearing here about PS are AMAZING!!
Really we have noone now who has anything bad or negative to say ONLY POSTIVE. Please at least consider researching it, sourcing it and trying it. It really will change your life! But in a very subtle way that makes a huge difference!
Some mums and dads who really value it have set up a forum, do pop over and register if you would like to know more. They are a very friendly bunch who do nothing else but research and talk about PS! Well someone has to!! Small group but very helpful and you will get a good welcome!
I am sure that Planet won't mind as it is such a small forum that is dedicated to one subject! So no threat to the wonderful work that is done on here. I love this place, just shows what we can all do ourselves to make our lives a little bit easier!
My kids are no longer on Ritalin, Concerta or anything else. My kids with Aspergers and autism are also benefiting. Seems to be a win win situation!!
Anyway don't take my word for it, pop over and see for yourselves!
