I meant the first one as a compliment, you didn't have to remove it. Then again, you do tend to go overboard, don't you? Especially in your estimation of things. Great job, giving this b***h carte blanc

I haven't read this whole thread just wanted to add how I see it!
I may be mistaken, but aren't you the one who got mad that NT kids parents were letting them play video games that you thought were inappropriate for your kid? If so, maybe you should rethink your whole position on inappropriate. My mother wouldn't let me get my ears pierced at 14 because it was "slu*ty". Don't be that mother.
HU??? My stance on videogames? My son plays them. he LOVES them, they are his world. We go by the age level on the games, he doesn't have ANY interest in ANY games that aren't Mario and Sonic or Minecraft. LUCKILY for me, those are benign. In my home, it is a value that we don't pretend to shoot up or kill any one with a gun or pretend gun. SO, as for shooting games, those will not be in my house. I don't think my son would be acting slu*ty if he wanted to play those games, and thus far, he has never asked. But, it is a value I hold close to my heart, and if and when the time comes he asks for violent games, we will have that discussion openly. We all KNOW our children better then anyone else, and have to do what we feel is in their long term best interest. KNOWING how obsessive my son can get with his games, it would be negligent of ME to indulge violence. I think directly of Adam Lanza, who was indulged in his video game violence and fascination with guns. if you aren't aware of who he is, do a google search of his name. Do I think my son has the potential to do what he did? NOPE, but I am CERTAIN neither did his mom. And a value I hold in my home regardless of diagnosis. My 2 younger kids, so far NT, will also not be playing gun games in my home. Will they at friends homes, most probably, and will I love it? Prob not but I will live. And we will discuss and navigate the terrain together, which is just what I said in my post. What we always do and have done.
We also have certain values for TV shows, etc. If he watches those shows in friends homes, waiting room TVs or at karate parties (all have happened) I am ok with it. Do I LOVE IT, no. But the good part is it is limited, and we can talk about it. What about that show do you think was good? not so good? Why do you think we don't watch it at home? Then we discuss why others watch it and why that is ok. We do the same for video games.
And, I just don't see how your reply to my post makes any sense at all, to be honest.

Babybird, OOM and I are cool with each other. You asked if I am on some kind of conquest. I don't think of it in this way but in a way I guess I am. One day in the future my wife and I will become parents. This is one reason. What I have discovered about myself is that I am ignorant in many areas. For a long time, I did not know that I was ignorant. Now, I have this awareness. Like the great philosopher Socrates, I ask questions to obtain a greater understanding of the world around me. I desire to be an excellent father. How do I with my wife raise our child to be the best he or she can be? What is this best? How shall we all live? What does success mean? Does it mean having excellent virtue or lots of money?
This concept can be extended outside of raising a child as well. What OOM says on further examination does have some truth to it but it is not strictly true. Those who take the opposing viewpoint have some truth to their beliefs a well. What I have come to conclude is that most of us in our society and other society have some beliefs which do have some truth to them. Beliefs are both shaped by our genetics and our environment. To me, there are greater truths than others and both of you have but just one aspect of a greater truth.
Where does evil come from? I've come to the conclusion like Socrates that evil comes from ignorance more specifically the unawareness of our own ignorance. Let's look at Christopher Dorner. He felt like he was wronged and attempted to right the wrongs of the LAPD through the proper channels. He believed what he did was the only thing he could do and he believed he was a virtuous warrior for justice. Was he doing evil or did he believe he was doing good? This makes me conclude something else as well like Socrates did. No one does evil knowingly or intentionally.
How do we all live with goodness and virtue including the children? How do we raise our current and future children to live good lives and noble lives? If evil is caused by the lack of the awareness of our own ignorance then to prevent evil one has to examine what it is and the root of it. Evil to me comes from our own erroneous conclusions which are built upon faulty premises. If society is to improve and greater truths and beliefs are to be discovered including childrearing techniques we have to question other people's thinking and our own thinking as well. We have to route out contradictions.
To prevent evil, one must uproot it. To uproot evil, one must know the root. If the root of evil is ignorance than ignorance is the disease and knowledge and questioning of beliefs including our own is the cure. Imagine if Dorner's beliefs were questioned. Imagine if Adam Lanza's beliefs were thoroughly questioned and examined. Maybe murders would've been prevented.
OOM, does have some truth to what she says. So does momsparky, InThisTogether, and others on here. If we're to get to greater truths and understanding to live our lives better maybe we ought to look at other people's beliefs to determine if there is some truth to them and incorporate them in our own.
Am I on a conquest? Yes, I am on a conquest. What is my conquest? It is to obtain better truths and better beliefs for us all as a society so we can live a good, happy, prosperous, noble and virtuous life?

Well didn't you just go way the f**k so overboard that even a life preserver won't reach? LOL! I was asking aren't you the mother who bitched that NT kids (and your kid isn't dx'd right? you just THINK he has it? If thats you then ok, if not, DONT TAKE IT LIKE IT IS) were allowed to play games that you don't let your child play and it UPSET you. And If that's you, then I called you overprotective. And I stand by that.
My kids played them. Still do. They all do. Ain't nobody I know gone on a mass shooting spree except one person who DIDNT EVEN PLAY VIDEO GAMES! You wanna be your whole little Duggers all to yourself keep them away from the world thing, then I say go for it! But what you gonna do if you die before your kid is 18 or 28 or 48 or whenever you decide to let him out of your cluthches? What's he gonna do then?
Yeah, that was you. I did really like you though in that one movie with John Travolta. When you got him that space suit and cried when he went out in the park with that girl, you rocked!

First a few things. I thought you were female. And had kids. I had been reading your user name as Cubed Mom. My bad. Second thing is, I owe MJMMOM an apology cause it's MomSparky about the video game thing, although MJ sure threw a fit so I may let that ride a few. See what happens and all.
But yeah. My point is when are you planning to let them go and what do you think they will have learned by then? And if, Gods forbid, something happens to you before the time you plan to let them be on their own? Don't throw them out naked! It may be mean but get a little callous on them first.
And I do like you, I just don't understand you a lot. You go way over my head a whole bunch. i'm pretty smart but I can't process a lot of what you say in the wya you say it. No offense, it's just a different style of communicating.
In other news, my friend Stacy told me she almost got ate by a tiger last night. She really did. I think I believe that, the way she told the story.

Gotta say it, just remembered, it was MomSparkey who I fussed at over the vidya games. But to be honest, maybe it should have been you. not everything is a very special episode or a teachable moment. Sometimes life is just life. It sucks sometimes and other times it doesn't. Deal. I gotta tell you that?

Oh, and I should have added this on to my last post, but I must say I liked you much better in Back To School than The Virgin Suicides. I mean for real. Rodney Dangerfield???? "Call me when you have no class!" Thats a lot better than "We are burning these records, burning them! I will not have this filth in this house!"

There is some truth to what you say and I will admit it does suck sometimes. You're a very practical person and you are excellent at being practical. This is an excellent trait to have. There are other practical people I have spoken to on here and IRL. When I examine your beliefs and their beliefs and when I understand the beliefs better I understand myself better and vice versa. It is cyclic.
Momsparky is shaped from her own experiences and her perceptions. She believes she is doing a noble thing for her child. You are shaped from your own experiences and perceptions as well. You believe you are doing what is noble for your children. From my perceptions my conclusions based upon observing and asking questions; both of you are correct in some way. There is truth to what you both say in your view points. You bring up valid points and she does as well. Like I said, I will eventually be a father one day and I am glad to be in here to obtain heads up to all of this. All of this leads to a state of Aporia for me.
Raising a child requires knowledge and wisdom it seems like. To me, one has to be able to question his own beliefs and put his self aside to do what is best for the child. Do I have what it takes to raise a child and be an excellent father? Do I have the wisdom and knowledge to do so? Honestly, I don't know. If I don't even know how to run my own life then how can I run someone else's life or provide wisdom that I don't have myself?

No problem.
I will say that I admit I do have issues with overthinking things which can lead to analysis paralysis. I have been told by many people from many walks of life that I do this. I wish there was effective treatment for it or effect techniques I could use.
Where did you obtain this information? You've peaked my interest.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epidemiolo ... es_simplex
"Worldwide rates of HSV infection – counting both cold sores (HSV-1) and herpes proper (HSV-2) – are between 65% and 90%.[1] Although many people infected with HSV develop labial or genital lesions, the majority are either undiagnosed or display no physical symptoms—individuals with no symptoms are described as asymptomatic or as having subclinical herpes.[2]"
Also, someone mentioned something about Japan in an earlier post. The Japanese are wonderful people, but by no means should they be held as an exemplar of "normal" or "well-adjusted." LOL
Me too!
