What kind of miscarriage did you have?
Did you had to go through any procedures after you miscarried?
How long did you had to wait before you started trying again?
How soon did you get pregnant after your miscarriage?
My answers.
Yes
No kids yet
Seven or eight weeks along (they could tell by the sac but there was no egg, maybe my body absorbed it)
Missed one
I had everything sucked out of my uterus and it hurt like heck, more than menstrual cramps and constipation.
I was told to wait three months, my nurse said wait 3 to 6 months and my OB doctor said three months the earliest and nine months the latest if I want to reduce the chances of another miscarriage but he also said I am going to need to get a shot to reduce the chances of having another one because of my blood type.
I don't plan on trying again until December. That be three months from now starting on the 15th.
No. I didn't have a miscarriage however I have a couple of advices.
My own pregnancy resembles very much to my mothers, in a pattern of regularity, weight gain, delivery. We also both have/had reglar periods. Thus when my pregnant friend came I said that she should look into her mothers pregnancy. It turns out that her mother had complications, miscarriages and the friend had a miscarriage shortly after. For her next one she got hormonal pills (or injections not sure) of progesteron and now she is in her 8th month.
Long story short, look into your family history and check with your doctor if he/she is willing to prescribe some pills to promote embrione adherance if you do have evidence that there is a string of miscarriages/complications in the family. I think that here in US they would look into possible reasons only after 3rd miscarriage.
Good luck to you.

A sad situation topic
Twice, as far as I know. MC can occur without any awareness, especially early in the pregnancy.
None. My first daughter was born December 1973, now aged 35 years.
First time, at 12 weeks, in August 1974, as a result of contracting Hep A. Had a DNC to flush out the conception products.
Got pregnant again, in May 1991! Result is healthy son, almost 18.
Second, at 6 weeks, in April 1993. Spontaneous into the toilet.
Rushed to doctor who told me I had lost the pregnancy. Became pregnant again in January 1994. Result is healthy daughter, almost 15. Waited three months at least before trying again.
Except for DNC for First, nothing except followup to ensure I was healthy.
First MC, 17 years. No opportunity for pregnancy between August 1974 and May 1991.
Second MC, 9 months.
Good Luck SG. Everyone is different. I am sorry for your loss. ![]()

Haven't had any miscarriages, am currently 7 months pregnant with #3 (my final). I just wanted to say, most early miscarriages are due to a chromosomal abnormality in the embryo. I think it's 80-90%. I know right now that won't make you feel better, but I don't think you will have any trouble trying again, getting pregnant and carrying to term, that is the good news. They say 1 in 4 women miscarry before they even know they are pregnant. So many things can go wrong in the developing embryo/fetus.
oh wait, I just read something about your blood type, are you Rh negative? If so you will need to have a RhoGam shot every time there is the possibility of the baby's blood contacting your blood. If your RH factor is negative and the baby's is Rh positive - your body will produce antibodies against the fetus, the shot prevents this.
My mother is Rh-negative and she had 3 healthy babies. You will get a RhoGam shot before pregnancy and after, and after things like an amniocentesis. Don't try getting pregnant until you doctor gives you the shot. Good luck!
I haven't miscarried, so I wouldn't have any useful answers beyond the first question. I've always felt extremely lucky, in that respect.
But I have to reply, because I am so sorry to hear that you have this question to ask, and that you have gone through this. I know how much your were anticipating your first child, and I am sure the loss has been devastating. I am truly sorry for your loss.

I was just given the shot today and I was told it's for life. Next time I get pregnant, I am going to go in and ask if I will be needing shots during my pregnancy and ask if they can check my progesterone to see if it's normal, not low. That is another reason for a cause of miscarriages. I hope my lack of shot wasn't the reason for my miscarriage. I was also given the card after my shot.

You know all this already Spokane_Girl, but I thought my answers could provide help or comfort to others affected so here they are:
Yes
4 miscarriages before my firstborn son (he has AS which is how I found this place and he was my 5th pregnancy, hence number5). One additional miscarriage before my second child. So that's 7 pregnancies, 2 kids.
I was about 6 weeks along with all of my miscarriages.
Natural miscarriages, or spontaneous abortion as they are called.
No medical intervention was necessary for me.
I didn't wait as long as I should have. About 2 months for the first 4 and I got pregnant immediately after my 5th (within the same month) with my now healthy daughter.
Sometimes getting pregnant again was very easy, and other times it took a long time. The longest time took 13 months.
I am also RH negative and received the Rhogam shot with all of my pregnancies except the first. I was lucky that my body did not produce the antibodies after my first miscarriage. Usually you are given the shot after any significant bleeding (including miscarriage), somewhere around 26 weeks, and within 72 hours after delivery. If you were never pregnant before, your body would not produce the antibodies. Even if your body did produce the antibodies before another pregancy, it would not likely cause a miscarriage. It could cause RH disease in the baby and the baby might need a transfusion immediately after birth. It's obviously best to avoid RH disease, but it is usually treatable.

Have you ever miscarried? Yes, at 12 weeks with my first pregnancy. On the day after Christmas. And with my current pregnancy. I was originally carrying twins and lost one at around 8 weeks (I am due in Dec.)
How many times did you miscarry before you had your first child? Just once. Our second pregnancy was successful.
How many weeks were you when you miscarried? 12 weeks and 6 days ... to be exact with the first. 8 weeks with the second.
What kind of miscarriage did you have? With #1 I started cramping at the St. Mark's bookstore in NYC (doing holiday shopping). I began bleeding during a movie that night. I lost the pregnancy that evening. With #2 I was hosting a public event and had to carry on. It was awful ... but less tramatic because I had my son.
Did you had to go through any procedures after you miscarried? No, everything came out naturally. With #1 It was a holiday weekend ... and I was in a strange place visiting family .. so I just waited. The worst part was keeping everything for my OBGN. With #2 my fear was that the healthy pregnancy would also be expelled -- thankfully that did not happen.
How long did you had to wait before you started trying again? With #1 I only waited 3 months. I am also RH-negative and had the Rhogam with both incidents.

Hello,
I am so sorry about your loss. No one prepares you for a miscarriage and the intensity of it. Most people shrug it off with -- you'll get preg again soon -- and don't let you grieve. Please know that I understand and have been there.

How many times did you miscarry before you had your first child? Once.
How many weeks were you when you miscarried? about 6 weeks both times
What kind of miscarriage did you have? not sure what you mean, but I have health problems which complicated everything. I don't know for sure, but I suspect my body was just too weak to carry a baby. The first time I had undiagnosed Crohn's disease and weighed about 99 lbs; the second was shortly after major surgery and we weren't trying.
Did you had to go through any procedures after you miscarried? no, it was just like a heavy period. but I did have to get rhogam shots because I'm rh-
How long did you have to wait before you started trying again? The first time we had to wait until I was healthy enough and it took about a year and a half. The second time we waited about 6 weeks but had more complications with my health and we ended up adopting our Gorgeous and Brilliant daughter a few years later.
How soon did you get pregnant after your miscarriage? We got preg and carried to term shortly after we started trying again. This resulted in my Gorgeous and Brilliant son (who happens to have AS).

Did you had to go through any procedures after you miscarried? No
How long did you had to wait before you started trying again? Pretty much consecutive fertility treatments
How soon did you get pregnant after your miscarriage? With the last miscarriage before my son was born, the day I lost that baby was the considered the first day of my pregnancy with my son since they calculate from the first day of your last menstrual cycle.
I went through infertility treatments for three years to get my son. I have had two miscarriages since giving birth to him and am expecting a daughter now. I lost this baby's twin at 7 weeks. I had a rescue cerclage with my five year old son, Jamie, who has Asperger's. My membranes ruptured at 31 weeks and he was born at 36 weeks. He had a week long stay in the NICU for breathing issues.

When I had a child then it did help me get over the loss of the second misscarriage. Be kind to yourself, allow yourself to cry, please God things will work out for you. xx
