My DS had his first day of school yesterday.
He didn't like it, he really didn't want to go back. My best friend's daughter is in his class, being the only person familiar in class, he clung to her, but she didn't mind too much. Cept at story time, when she thought he might actually sit on her lap
I hope his teacher will have the patience for him, and not write him off as a troublemaker. She said that yesterday my DS would not stay in his seat, and that he was "acting ugly" :? , which I actually had to go back to the school and ask specifically what she meant by that, because that is just so broad, and how an I supposed to explain it to him if I don't know. She also told my DS to quit acting ugly, and he just doesn't get that, I'm an adult and didn't get it.
So when I went and asked her about it, she pretty much said it was insubordination, that he was telling her no, and that he didn't want to do it. She took him to the office with her once just to kinda diffuse him, and the principal tried to talk to him, and she tried to talk to him and put her arm around him, and he told her that he didn't want to talk to her, and tried to push her away. Now they had prior warning that my DS was autistic, but high functioning. I told them, he did not like new people, this was a new thing, so it was going to be a difficult transition for the both of them.
The teacher wanted him to color a picture, and he drew lines in the picture, and pretty much traced it on the inside, and I told her, he doesn't like to write or color, that he would rather type.
I told the teacher to never tell my son that he was acting ugly again, that he didn't understand acting a look, should have seen the look on her face when I said that  I told her that he needed more concrete language, that she has to be quite literal with him. He starts his EC classes today on his 2nd day of school, I hope that his EC teacher can help out his regular kindergarten teacher, and give her some pointers.
He rides the bus home for the first time today, I hope the ride goes well

Good for you Adora. Sounds like the kindergarten teacher will need some extra help in understanding autism. I hope everything goes well for you this year!

That's good progress!

It can often take a while before teacher and child figure each other out but, as long as the teacher is sincerely willing, it should happen. Bumps along the way expected.

My son has his first day of school tomorrow and he is NOT looking forward to it! We're learned a few things along the years to help him minimize his anxieties about the new school year. I've included some tips in my recent blog, if you are interested:

I'm holding my breath until tomorrow! :-)
