Hi,
I'm the Mum of a son with SPD. I don't know anyone else with this disorder and it would be great to hear from anyone to discuss it and offer advice and help, or to hear from anyone with SPD and give me advice on how to cope with GCSE's at school etc.
My son was a late talker; he could say the odd words but couldn't string a sentence together and was diagnosed with SPD at about 2 and a half years old. He had speech therapy, which really helped and I taught him words and the meaning of words slowly. He's a bright lad with an amazing sense of humour but he's struggling learning GCSE's, specially English when you have to analyze characters and the meaning of what they say etc. He does get help at school although he has to ask for it and I know sometimes he doesn't want to ask as he always feels he's the only one that doesn't understand.
I was just wondering if anyone out there with SPD could tell me what worked for them at school or could give me any helpful advice. I help my son with all of his work and revision and explain things in a way he can understand but I know he still finds it tricky. What do you think? Any advice?
Thanks
