I hope this won't be seen as simply trying to drum up traffic but I've just posted an article on my blog called;

What does Low Muscle Tone (Hyptonia) mean for Aspies

When doctors and physio first started talking about low muscle tone, I was confused and asked about it on WP. I didn't get great answers and, if anything, went away feeling even more confused because I'd talked to aspies with "bodybuilder muscles".

It's taken me quite a few months to figure this stuff out and I thought it might be worth pointing it out to with you all (particularly parents).

Anyway, it's on the blog if you want to read it.

That's a good description. When they first said my son had low muscle tone I didn't quite know what it meant either.

Thank you Thank you Thank you!! ! :D
I found this article extremely interesting.

This explains my 9 year old son J well. He hates physical exercise, he says he gets so tired. He finds writing hard work.
My older son thinks its great that my 9 year old can bend himself in half backwards with ease, he can also put his whole foot in his mouth (yuck).

Thanks for posting the link.

Hypotonia is also common in people with Down syndrome. They have very loose joints and are often described as "floppy" at birth.

I was diagnosed with that as a kid. More recently, I mentioned it to a doctor and was told that I couldn't possibly have it. She said that hypotonia refers to low muscle tone that is severe enough to be obvious and stays constant through life. I only had low muscle tone for about 5 years and it was mild. I think it was the result of extreme stress, but maybe AS had something to do with it too.

I always had the opposite problem- large muscles, high muscle tone. I could out leg-press all the boys in my Freshman PE class. I had the shot-put coach try to recruit me. My hubby also has high muscle tone, large legs, etc.
