My concern is a little backwards from the norm here and may sound silly but I am concerned.

I have AS and have a child (1 yr) that is almost certainly NT. He is very outgoing, curious, etc, nothing like his older brother with classic autism.

I am concerned because I do not have eye contact unless I consiously focus on it in which case it is generally "weird". When discussing getting assessed/diagnosed for my ASD with a family member she stated that I was probably NT and just had some weird patterns because my father is a classic case of undiagnosed AS and I learned from him.

My concern is if a parent with odd patterns and general lack of eye contact will likely cause problems for him?

Are there any other parents on the spectrum with NT kids? How is it working?

I'm sorry if this is a silly question but it really has been bothering me.

My NT kids picked up everything they needed to with their interactions with friends and church people. They're programmed to pick up social skills and they will. Don't worry.

that my son is around lots of better social models than me. I do make some eye contact unless I'm overwhelmed. But my son is too young yet to determine NT vs ASD. He recently began toe walking but at his developmental age, it could be that he just discovered that he could. He makes great eye contact and does joint referencing. And his need for interaction wears me out!

I'm Aspergian, and I have a NT 4yo (maybe a little ADHD) and a very likely Aspergian 1yo. My older son is an absolute social butterfly, it's just IN him to love people and demand attention. And he gets lots of attention from other family and friends, and kids at school. He has the magical ability to make immediate friends with anyone. He's probably already more socially advanced than me! LOL My younger son I worry a little more. If he does have AS, I have a hard time knowing how to draw him out to interact. I work full time, so he's in daycare full time. Hopefully we can get him a significant chunk of EI time every week (if he is on the spectrum). I'm working on getting him tested soon.
