I liked All Star in Melee, and tolerated it in Brawl but with 50+ characters to fight and AI being cheap a-holes while stage hazards still screw you over 9 times out of 10 just becomes annoying bs rather than being remotely fun. And every time a new fighter gets added through DLC, they get added to All Star...which makes it even more obnoxious. You like it, good for you. Glad you can get stuff unlocked. Me, I can't do squat and want to lkill myself half the time. To each his own I guess...

I'm just curious as to exactly what you're trying to unlock...? What is it that's making you go through all of that?

I'd heard that some of the unlock conditions were stupid, but I ignored alot of them, as I already got A: all the characters, and B: all the stages, and there isnt much else that at all matters gameplay-wise (not that I've seen anyway), particularly when playing online (where 90% of things cant be used anyway...). And I find the AI at any level to be kinda braindead so I got bored fighting it.

It sounds though like you need a break. I guarantee you, going into it angry *will* multiply your chances of losing. Why not just step away for awhile?

Trophies and CDs mostly, as well as any hats & custom moves that aren't part of the RNG. That's really where my enjoyment comes from, looking through the trophies and listening to the music in the Sound Test....but of course they had to be douchebags and lock half that stuff behind challenges like "beat All Star Mode", "Beat All Star mode as ZSS w/o healing" or "get 8 KO's in Cruel Smash". Screw that....I can't even do easy because the universe hates me and I suck at everything....

And I do step away....I stepped away for 4 months. It only took a few stages of All Star to make me want to kill myself....I would honestly, and 100% seriously, pay somebody to do that crap for me ( including doing All Star for all DLC fighters as they're released )

It seems like you shouldn't bother with fighting games.

With that said if you want a fighting game where you can buy DLC that unlocks everything I suggest you try the Tekken, Soul Caliber, etc...

I typically never like saying things like that, but I kinda have to agree with this one. Fighting games, all of them, require *alot* of practice. You're going to repeat the same things, over and over and over and over and over and over and over before you get them right.

And Smash is by far one of the easiest to learn.... you dont have to worry about 30 hit combos or any of that stuff with it.

And really, if you're having trouble even on easy, you're not likely to have a chance of getting 100% on this particular game from what I hear about some of the later unlocks. They're supposedly the sorts of things that even longtime players have alot of trouble with.

That's just it though, aside from a couple characters I'm not even that bad at Smash ( I'm even decent with some characters in SF, Soul Calibur, Marvel Vs Capcom, and KI )....and I still have fun playing with friends ( IE not online against randoms ) and playing Classic mode. It's just the fact the REQUIRE mastering every event and Multi-Man mode and the uber eff-you hard difficulties and All-Star ( which as I said wouldn't be so bad if they'd remove the stage hazards and allow continues... ) to unlock content most gamers capable of unlocking really don't care about ( odds are, if you have the luck, skill and patience to pull that shtako off you likely only care about the stages and fighters... ). Smash is like Mario Kart that way, though skill matters more in Smash...luck is way too big a factor. These days, I just think the kinds of unlockable collectibles they put in Smash should only require time and interest, with the challenges being nothing more than Xbox achievements and awarding just random amounts of in game money or random equipment ( or things like titles and icons for online profiles, since I couldn't care less about playing online ). But that's just me....

It had to be said!

Though I both hate and suck at sports games, thus gave up playing them except for Wii Sports Club (Wii U redux).
You don't hear me talk about how bad I am at them.
I also suck at playing dual analog shooters as well, thus I avoid them with a passion.

No, it didn't have to be said. You use sports games as an example for you, yet the difference is you HATE sports games ( as do I, unless it was "made" by Nintendo like Wii Sports or the Mario sports games ) whereas I LOVE Smash Bros but just struggle with certain aspects of it. Telling me to give up on the series altogether is akin to telling me to give up on a friend or family member....besides, sometimes it helps to vent/rant about it. Haven't you ever been so PO'd about something you just had to get it off your chest and unburden yourself? And as a final point, if I completely gave up on and avoided everything I suck at I'd have NOTHING. Rant OVER! *coffee table flip*

Now if you'll excuse me, I have some Smash Run farming to do....

Never felt the need to go off about something minor like a game or something else.

I tend to keep nearly everything to myself and normally don't tell people stuff...

Though I'll admit I did get my butt handed tonight on MK8 150cc on the special up.

Ugh, Lucas isnt even out yet, and I'm tired of him already. In anticipation of seeing him bloody everywhere. Not to mention a certain friend of mine using him over and over and over... I just know my patience is going to break (again) at some point after that begins.

The Splatoon costumes I'd get.... if the Miis actually were USABLE. Online, I mean (I dont do local matches at home, so I dont even set up any Miis or use them). Though that's a minor qualm about an otherwise amazing game, really.

Didnt buy Mewtwo either, for that matter, because feh.

Man, it's about time they finished the Miiverse stage ( not that I expected it to be easy to make, just that they haven't even mentioned it since the 50 Facts Direct back before the Wii U version's release... ). And I can't wait to play my man Lucas again ( I wonder if they'll give him that alt.... )....*crosses fingers for Mother 3 announcement at E3*

So Lucas is available just before E3....the E3 Direct is likely to include the announcement of the next fighter or 2 coming to Smash, perhaps we'll find out if the Roy & Ryu rumor is real ( and yes, I know the rumor is based on datmining info which points to it being real...I refuse to believe until Nintendo makes it official )

Isnt that just Lucas?

Or did they randomly decide to add something else? Or am I just missing something here?

Well the video airs at 7:40am PT and the update and DLC goes live at 8:00am PT, right after the video finishes according to Sakurai on Miiverse.

There is no way in hell, he is going to spend 10+ minutes talking about the Miiverse stage, Lucas, the DLC costumes, and the update...
I'd honestly be very surprised if not out right offended if Nintendo hyped this just to show off the content they already showed us before...!

So, if someone doesn't buy the DLC characters, does that mean that they can't play against someone else using them online, or does that just mean that you need to pay to unlock them for your own use? Also, can you still get Mewtwo, or has that promotion passed?

you just need to buy them in order to use them. The patch will contain the data for Lucas so you can play against people who have him.
You can still redeem a Mewtwo code if you have one.
If not you have to buy him.
