A Tale in the Desert is all about crafting and building, and making a virtual nation. It's a MMO of the sandboxy type, if that's your thing.

I get bored of it some times, but I usually go back.

Genocide against pixels is one of my more enjoyable methods of reliving stress.

There are few things more relaxing then shooting a zombie in the face with a shotgun

I must confess that I again played an 'endless killing' game.. I couldn't think of anything more fun to do.. although now I'm not particularly enthused about playing it again.. but that's me I guess, always changing things including myself..

They still don't make any sense to me rationally, but rationality is only so exciting

I take it a step farther. I enjoy games like Deus Ex... where you can kill anyone you want, but you will eventually depopulate the cities you have access too. And I mean entirely. You'll eventually be wandering through streets littered with corpses.

for me, if all the NPCs were Piers Morgan, it'd never get tiresome.

If I can suggest a killing game with more interaction and teamwork involved, I would recommend you try Natural Selection 2. It is an online FPS and you are killing stuff, but you also build and expand your base, and you have a commander guiding and helping the team. It has a different feel to it, as you are not constantly focused on killing stuff, but also working as a team and trying to progress through the map. The beta can be played if you pre-order, there is only a few populated servers, but the game is set to ship in June I think.

Myself I kinda like the endless killing I guess, as there is always the thrill of competition. :)

I don't like endless killing in MMO's, such as grinding, nor do I like quests that have me going back and fourth killing monsters left and right. I also dislike FPS games now, for it's mostly just a killfest and that gets boring after awhile. Albeit, it took me years to realize it.

I have to agree, it all gets quite monotonous after a while. Especially in FPS games, I don't even play them anymore.
I think as the game industry has become more corporate, the more homogenous the major titles have become. It's all really the same few games with different graphics switched out. Big companies like EA and the like are less likely to take a chance on radical new game concepts. They are really becoming more and more just like film and TV, same crap, different title.

Indie is the way to go if you want something fresh.

I'm actually getting bored with all the violence and destruction in general. I'd like to see more creative sandbox games.

What ever happened to outside the box concepts like "Q-Bert", "Tempest" & "Qix"?
ahhhh.... those we're the days, the golden years of the 80's arcade.

It depends, I don't bother with hack and slash and cover based shooters like god of war or gears of war (pattern there?) If the game is more tactical that gives a number of options to play like the hitman series then I feel it's more engaging. Fo me I play a veriety of games alothough I dont see games like lumines that repetitive.

nah i only play a few for their feel and quick play time to completing a "set2 this happens in multiplayer mostly, latest obsession is the new free tribes ascend, brilliant remake.

i play plenty of games where killing is either a side effect or simply not apparant at all, even if the logical conclusion is it happens, sword of the stars for an example is so resource and technology based that one can win an entire 50 hour campaign by diplomacy, shogun 2 is also brilliant in its AI, even reacting and planning ambushes in a way i havent seen AI do ever.

I would like to see more games with options beyond killing, and often the constant killing does get tedious.

i dont see what the problem is, killing is always fun! i dont need to take another option, not when I can shove a grenade in a brute's mouth, then watch his head explode! (saints row) or decapitate a bunch of cops! (GTA) and let's not stop there! send in an nuclear airstrike! (world in flames) of course it's nice to have a varity methods to choose from... i love video games...
