Make yourself a goal. Doesn't matter what it is at all. Just pick something and go with it. Then you'll be doing something, whatever it is. My goals are usually doing side-stuff then main missions in games, but yours can be different.

Also, for shooting, it sounds like this is one of your first games with aiming. If I remember right, Just Cause 2 doesn't have a great aiming mechanic to begin with (Stupid aim acceleration, sticky aiming and aim assist can be bothersome for new players and veterans alike.). But you can turn down the sensitivity. Or, alternatively, turn it up. Either way, the more you practice/play, the better you'll get.
I remember my first console shooter was Halo. It was so different than keyboard and mouse, I couldn't beat the game even on Heroic. Eventually I got the aiming down. Legendary, however, is another beast altogether.

Pen and paper. I thought of it as soon as I opened this thread up again. Herp derp. Silly me. There's not many games inspired by Table-Top games that I would like, and I generally suck at the old-school ones, generally because it's trial-and-error and lots of experimenting. Then again, Dragon Age was supposed to be great, but I haven't played it yet.
There's also Deus Ex: Human Revolution, but it's not a P&P type game, but it's own RPG.

I love the Deus Ex series the first one was the best. My biggest complaint about it would be that it's not strickly an open world game. More of a series of semi-open level maps. Although the story still has a little bit of player choice it's still largely linear. That being said the serries can be very fun to play through every once in awhile. It might be great for the Original Poster because it's just open enough to give you some freedom as a player but, the story still drives you to complete the game.

I will always prefer linearity with good gameplay elements and strong plot over making everything open world.

That being said I like having a good amount of options towards achieving that...I love COmmand and Conquer for that reason. The skirmishes are super fun as well as the missions!

I was interested in Deus Ex: revolution but heard it was a generic shooter. How is the gameplay to it Rakshasa72 (your username makes me almost positive you like Rage Against the Machine and I listen to Audioslave.)
