Are you good at FPS?
I'm almost scary good. Maybe not e-sports good but in some games I know I'm close. I started playing Halo Combat Evolved the week it released, Doom modding before that, then the EA 007 James Bond series, Splinter Cell, Castle Wolfenstein, Half Life(s), Lost Planet, CODMWII zombies, Metro 2033, Crysis (both cryses), all the other Halos plus expansions and now I need to expand my horizons; replaying Metro is high on the list but I need to play Lost Planet II, Mass Effect, Perfect Dark Zero and then finally build Xbox Live cred.
edit: ^start with Goldeneye & Project Snowblind.

I think I usually just went by "d00d!" or some variant of such. I was never in a clan or anything like that.
Was Seige the one where you had to defend the core of your base, and you could build structures like weapon dispensers and turrets? That was pretty fun, if a bit unpolished. I think it did a better job of integrating RTS elements with an FPS than Command and Conquer: Renegade did.
I'm pretty good at them, I've been playing since the Wolfenstein era, graduated into Goldeneye (perhaps my most dominant game ever), and was actually a tester on the first Halo, though I'm at my best with a mouse and keyboard. I've been playing a lot of Payday 2 this year, and I can pretty reliably dominate the board, and I do pretty well at competitive shooters like Loadout as well.

There was a while around late 2011-early/mid 2012 where I remember there were a surprising number of people still playing UT99 online, although none of it involved standard gametypes. Even so, I had the chance to play some really cool mods, probably some of the best and most creative I've ever played in an online FPS. One of my favorites was this CTF variant where you could pick up a rocket launcher that would either fire a warhead like the Redeemer, or in its secondary fire mode, the rocket would turn into a miniature fighter jet you could pilot, with machine guns to boot. The coolest part was being able to fly straight at the enemy base, eject from your jet, and have it crash into your opponents killing them in a huge explosion! Usually you'd end up getting caught in the explosion as well, so it was kind of a kamikaze maneuver, but it was still really cool.
Were you playing on Rosebum servers back then?

I'm not sure. I was just using the ingame server list, and I think I filtered it to only show populated servers.

I like the FPS mechanic, but I play games for story...
I guess the only real FPS games I have are Red Dead Redemption, Borderlands 1&2, and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.
I love those game and I used to play RDR online, but I wouldn't say I'm any good.
I also play Fallout: New Vegas FPS style (no V.A.T.S.) when I'm playing with a Cowboy style character.

RDR isn't an FPS.
