Should I get WoW and all expansions?

My personal opinion is that you shouldn't base buying or not buying WoW or any other MMO off of the opinions of others. Opinions are only that...opinions, formed by people who either had a good or bad personal experience with the game. My advice is to download the free trial and see if you enjoy it. If you do, then great. If not, then you didn't spend any money and you can move on. WoW is not for everyone but I certainly would not form my opinions based on the testimonials of a few players who sound slighted by the game in one form or another.

You can keep the trial account indefinitely, with your lvl 20 character getting better gear and stuff. Beat up the opposition in WSG or Arathi and just use it for lightweight fun. I don't think it's worth paying the money for what is nothing special.

Nah get EVE Online that is some really hardcore pvp and their userbase have only grown since 2002 beta

I will tell you now that if you dont want easy stay away from SWTOR, its so easy its laughable at times, yes the story is good but the gameplay and mechanics can be truely frustrating at times, and PVP is so unbalanced its not even funny since when could a lvl 10 take on a lvl 49 max level is 50 and they have a 50 vs 50 PvP and a 10 vs everything to 49 system.

Dont get me wrong its a great game, its just somewhat easy, can have alot of Bugs and alot of Laggggg.

1 game that I keep going back to despite the many issues would be Anarchy Online by Funcom still imho one of the bestest ever MMORPG games you will experince even with 1999 graphics and lag and huge memory leaks and lag

I bought all the expansions myself and enjoyed the game largely in single-player mode until level 65 or so when I hit one expansion or another and it just seemed less interesting. This took me about two weeks.. however, it was fun during that time. WoW has been around a while and it is very polished and well-done for what it is (a rather generic fantasy MMOG).

I wouldn't consider it possible to win any MMOG. If nothing else you can always buy gold from farmers for 'real-world cash', etc.

I didn't craft much but the crafting is pretty stock, the stuff you make is good but not amazingly great, etc. It's the same way with almost every MMOG I've played, save SWG (which was all crafting)

On the server I was on, the community covered everything - people endlessly spouting memes, people running serious raiding guilds, griefers, etc.

I'm not sure about auto-clickers or if WoW supports plugins in general.. but I think it does?

PVP and PVM are like almost all MMOGs these days, global cooldowns, certain reactives, etc. I didn't find it any more or less difficult than any other MMO I've played lately. And I think WoW supports macros.

The population is dropping but it's still the biggest around. And considering that WoW has been around for 10 years or so it is impressive that they still have so many people playing. That said, I can see why people are leaving.. at this point WoW is such a standard that it all seems boring now. But it is very well done for what it is.

Overall I'm not sure if it was worth my $100 to get two weeks of fun-style fantasy gaming.. it was fun, though.

I've been playing SWTOR lately and enjoying it. I'm still running through all the questlines for all the classes. I find the Imperial side somewhat disheartening to play since they tend to enjoy being Star Wars Imperial-y, but even that is interesting as a (dark) story.. you can play light side to an extent but you'll need to skip a fair amount of quests.. and really, you're endlessly killing things in the game, it's hard to be too moral I don't know that I'll play SWTOR much once I get through all the quests - MMO 'end game' tends to bore me. The game has a lot of content, though.

I found Star Trek Online fun for a month or so but it's not very Star Trekky, even considering the new, more 'stuff blows up all the time'-themed movie. The game is set in the alternate universe of the movie.. but even so, the Federation is far more bloodthirsty than they ever were in the original movies, TV shows, etc.

I enjoyed RIFT for a few months, it's very WOW-like with much more going on at once - continual invasions by enemies and the like. That has recently started up a free trial too. I actually recommend RIFT over WOW, although after playing SWTOR the questing in it seems even more basic.

There's Dark Age of Camelot - it came out about 10 years ago and so the graphics demands aren't very high. Its main focus is PvP, specifically in the keep battles etc. I enjoyed that for two years or so. It also has a 2 week? trial where you can reach 50 and do whatever you want.. and they've made it much easier to level than it used to be, so you could easily reach 50 in that two weeks if you want.

One thing I would like to point out in regards to WoW is the number of different realms available. Some realms have a much higher pop than others, and there are different realms for different styles of play. I play on a RPPVP server and love it. Sure you meet some jerks, but you meet a lot of great people too. I think the RP encourages people to interact in a different manner to the other servers. What I'm trying to say is that some realms are more friendly than others, get a trial account and see which ones you like. Just my two bob.

Well as i have only been playing wow for almost a year i still enjoy it, did have a break from it after a few months and i subscribe using game cards so i dont pay when i am not playing it(well after the current card runs out)

You could have a Proper try of the game for like £10 you dont need to buy everything, get someone to refer a friend with you and you and them will level up 3 times as fast while working together on characters the same level ( it makes a hell of a difference i had it and then did a chr on my own without it and i was like OMG this is crazy, but with refer a friend its brill and sooooo much quicker) you can level to 20 on the refer a friend account for free then if all is good to lvl 20 you just buy the original battle chest for like £10 and then you can get to lvl all the way to lvl 70 and if you do it in the 30 free days then you dont have to pay the monthly subscription till the 30 days is over. Once you done that if your enjoying it carry on and buy other expansions / subscribe and if not then quit but i really would recommend giving it a go to lvl 70

I have chrs on several realms and they are all different and all with different ppl to meet i have made some good friends on there, there are also adult guilds only accepting 18+ or 21+ people if you want to be in a guild with older ppl and it is a different experence if you do get it also make sure you join a lvl 25 guild for all perks and boosts if you can.

Ignore all the comments saying "WoW is going to die soon!! !" people have been saying that for the last five years... WoW is the biggest MMO on the market and I spent a good four years on it. Believe it or not, I would even credit it to helping develop my social skills and really helping my social life (as opposed to the typical story that "it destroyed my life and everything!") I don't play any more, it really does take a lot of time, but if you're willing to dedicate that, it seems like a great game for you.
