entitlement on the topic of dlc etc sounds like you are shilling for bad companies I don't think its bad for people to push the companies in the free market to create the best product possible, I'm sure if its appropriate companies and artists love appropriate criticism and knowing when their customers are unhappy or not. the whole entitled s**t is just not correct, a customer is entitled to be unhappy how they are treated or the product offered. and not only to not buy their product but to tell others to do the same if they don't listen to fan feed back. we own the industry no one else the fans fuel it.

idk the whole concept of having fun while being screwed over by insane prices on dlc, or other things the season pass stuff really annoys me but I rarely buy games anyways. mostly get cheap deals on humble bundle, or steam sales.

I'm a solid gamer. I play games for many different reasons, having fun is one of them (although not always).
To me paid DLC isn't really a problem except when it is 'on-disk'. In otherwords, it was pulled from the game in order to make money on it later. That makes me stop supporting the company that does that.
I also play games to experience the Art of it. So if I've chosen to not support a company because of their shady practice and I can turn to my ever available friend, Captain Longbeard, who with only a small bit of know-how can give me access to almost any game I desire. Sure multiplayer isn't available for most of them, but I can experience the game enough.

As for gamers no-a-days.. well gaming is so mainstream now that gamers are just people. So you get a broad range of people, and people like to complain on forums. :D

It doesnt quite work that way.

It's not a matter of pushing a developer/publisher to put out the best product possible. At no time is that the thing that creates anger in consumers. Plenty of devs will sometimes put out a crappy game... you dont see anyone freaking the hell out over it.

What people get so angry about is when companies do bad things in order to take advantage of customers. On-disc DLC, for instance. That's NOT okay. Because it's a lie: It's not actually DLC. It's a way for jackass companies like Capcom and Activision, two of the really nasty ones, to suck more money out you for what is essentially a non-existent download. Non-existent because it's already on the very game disc you bought. You're not ACTUALLY downloading it, and it's not content that was created after released. You are paying for part of the very thing you ALREADY BOUGHT. That's not how the concept of DLC works, not even close. They know full damn well their customers hate them for this. It's IMPOSSIBLE for them not to know it, because half of the damn internet flips the hell out every time something of this nature happens (and it happens OFTEN). People getting unhappy wont push them towards making a better product. These groups WILL repeat this stuff, over and over, as they're able to keep getting away with it due to the franchises under their control. When you've got a franchise like Call of Duty or Street Fighter or whatever, you can do all sorts of nasty, shady crap.... because you *know* customers will buy it anyway. They need their fix. They HAVE to have it.... even if they absolutely despise every molecule that makes you up. And someone just saying "well I just wont support them, I will resist and not buy it" accomplishes literally nothing, because the games in question just have WAY too large of a fanbase.

These are companies that dont give a damn what the consumer thinks of them. Hell, EA has been voted "worst company in the country" before.... even worse than the hideous monstrosity that is Comcast... so what did they do? THEY GOT WORSE. They saw that vote not as the sort of thing where they say "Geez, all these people really hate us... we really gotta work to win them back and turn things around", but instead they go "Well guys, here we have it. Absolute PROOF that our methods work! We can keep doing this... and go EVEN FURTHER with it... and our addicted, foolish customers will just lap it up anyway, even when they hate us THIS much! Lets come up with some new tricks here!". Corporate greed at it's worst.

THAT is the problem, and that is why people get so angry. It's not a matter of "Oh I'm entitled to get all of these bonus features that I want for free, and a discount, and blah blah blah". It's a matter of companies not caring one tiny bit, and having no trouble whatsoever with the concept of dirty tricks to suck more money out of people in dishonest ways.

More than enough validation for the anger and rage.

Its like, am I the only one who plays games for fun these days? I don't care what system a game is on, what the graphics are like, the framerate, etc. As long as I'm having fun and I find the game to be good, I'll play it. Sorry for the rant, just sick and tired of people whining about stupid things.

Whatever. I'm the kind of stick in the mud that seems funny to young folks and people my age too, because I still play classic games when I get off work a couple times during the weekdays. These young kids don't realize what they're missing from the older D&D books either. Back then it was all about writing and putting in intriguing features, making you really think about what you were doing. Now all these youngsters know about is Donkey Kong and Mario when we were getting stoned and procrastinating as kids by playing stuff like Duck Hunt, Tank Battles, Doctor Mario, Shadowrun, FF (4, 5, & 6 rule), or Actraiser 2.

Seems like graphics nowadays are there to distract from the cookie cutter plot lines and lack of anything revolutionary in the features. Hack and slash, and rpg's in general, used to be better on the NES and SNES. Thank god for GOG (good old games dot com), it's like reliving the old days when off work.

Joking aside though, I agree with you completely. Aside from the "getting stoned" part.

Lately I've been playing NES on a flat screen TV through an RF switch... Looks more than fine enough for me to enjoy the art. 8-bit, no online support, no DLC... haven't really had anything but fun with it.

This gets even more annoying when you're an indie developer yourself, and nonprogrammers think they know more about the target system than you do.

I too like playing games for fun. Yes, I have certain genres that I prefer playing, but that doesn't mean that I wont play other genres.

What I want to know is why do people complain about the SNES's CPU, when they never had to program it anyway?

Well judging by this thread there is a lot of drama among them I guess. I myself enjoy video games somewhat, not really something I obsess over...I have a PS3 with no games for it yet. And there is a PC game I play but yeah for me its just for fun. Sometimes though on the PC game people get b*tchy since its a multiplayer game so you're playing with other people its like some take it far to seriously.

I play games for fun. I'm not a competitive person so I don't play online very often. If I get a trophy or an achievement I feel a bit more accomplished, but I don't feel the need to beat every single game I own and buy and have every single achievement, trophy or DLC the games have to offer.
