Actually, back at E3 Nintendo specifically stated that EVERY Smash fighter will have an Amiibo ( with the possible exception of the Miis )...so Ness and Mr Game & Watch WILL be announced eventually. There are only 3 waves ANNOUNCED thus far, that won't be the whole collection. We also don't yet know how/what Amiibo will work with Captain Toad, Mario Party 10, Kirby & The Rainbow Curse, Yoshi's Wooly World or the 3DS Ace Combat game coming out ( yes, 3DS is getting an adapter for Amiibo use, while the upcoming New 3DS will have the NFC tech built into the touch screen. Smash Bros 3DS will get an update to allow Amiibo. ), not to mention any games they haven't even announced yet or haven't hinted at Amiibo compatibility in yet. Plus, if they were really only doing the 3 waves, we would have gotten Ness & Jigglypuff to complete the original 12, not to mention Lucario, Greninja, Charizard, Bowser, Ganondorf, Rosalina, Bowser Jr and Wario as they're all quite popular....they also didn't consider the possibility of what ended up happening actually happening, so wave 4 could be a post E3 release at this point in an attempt to get more of the 1st 3 waves on shelves.

Huh, I'm surprised at that.... Normally that sort of idea wouldnt fly. There's a reason why only certain characters in anime or gaming ever get figures and such made of them, after all....

It's interesting, because it seems more of an experimental idea, business-wise. There's no way at all to predict wether figures such as those will sell well, or really badly. Normally, something like this is a risky move and has a high chance of producing a loss, instead of any sort of gain.

I will say one thing though, there's a high chance of those niche ones being produced in very limited quantities. Hell, Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager were limited as heck (which was actually a wise move, despite what people may think), and they're in MAJOR games, all 3 of them. Those are not niche titles that they're in... they're just not as major as any of the others. So, characters from games that are actually much smaller in scope.... probably gonna be harder to sell, so it'll be interesting to see what Nintendo might do with them.

As for how Amiibos will work with other games.... it's almost guaranteed that for the vast majority of them, they'll unlock things only. Nintendo made one enormous mistake with the things: Each Amiibo, no matter what, can save ONE, and ONLY one game's data at a time. If you've got one set up for Smash? Guess what, you aint using that one for anything else, regardless of data size, without it completely deleting the fighter data that Smash put on it. I dont know why in the bloody hell someone thought this was a good idea. As each additional game comes out that DOES actually save data on them, this problem will only grow worse and worse. Right now, it simply doesnt matter, because only Smash saves anything onto them.

Actually Amiibos is supposed to expand to other games, including Animal Crossing and Mario Kart.
There is also going to be Amiibo cards as well.

The first series is Smash Bros, next probably will be Animal Crossing or Mario Kart (leaked by Nintendo UK)

An Amiibo in a given series is primarily made to interact with that game like Smash Amiibos.
Right now the Smash Amiibos save data is 4KBs which is half of the memory chip on Amiibos.
The other 4KBs is used to unlock content in other games.

Right now 8KBs is the highest NFC chip in mass production at the moment.
They could get a higher capacity chip, but it would cost that much more and be in short supply.
16KBs NFC chips should start full mass production starting sometime next year at the earliest.

Right now Amiibos are wildly popular across the globe and is helping to increase Nintendo's relationships and presence with retailers.

As NFC chips increase in size, it will increase the amount of data each Amiibo can read/store.

Mewtwo I'm probably going to skip: He was one of the very few characters I just never used earlier in the series. Too floaty and weird. Yeah, I know, it's free, but I dont feel like dealing with making an account for a site I'm never going to use.

No, what I'm interested in is wether or not they'll be doing any other characters after him. I've heard rumors that point in both directions with that one, but nothing concrete.

So just ignore this post....

I've been using Club Nintendo since it launched in 2008 (or was it 09).
I've gotten quite a few good items and games from the catalog.
In 2014 I received 2 full retail Wii U games, oodles of VC games (yes they have VC games that change monthly and give you Club Nintendo coins), an official 3DS game case (I had to have the Pikmin covers), and a 3DS carrying pouch (they are of really good quality).

In all I have gotten:
Official Mario Hat (2009 Platinum reward)
Super Mario Bros figurine (2010 Platinum reward) it came in a ? box.
Mario Pin Set (2011 Platinum reward)
Mario Playing cards set (2012 Platinum reward)
Majora's Mask OST (2013 Platinum reward)
2 3DS/DS pouches
Gold nunchuck
Pikmin tote bag
Mario mushroom tote bag
Kid Icarus special AR cards pack
Giant AR card
Super Mario Bros T-Shirt (it's great quality shirt and still going strong)
Ocarina of Time 3D OST
Free Gannondorf DLC for Hyrule Warriors
Blue Charging Cradle for my 3DS XL
Zelda themed 3DS game card case (they hold DS games too)
Mario themed 3DS game card case
(each of these game cases come with 3 different covers)
DS game card case
~20 Virtual Console games
Plus all the 2014 stuff I have listed above.

If you love getting free games and rewards, it's well worth registering your games and systems.

Though have unused codes you don't want, can I have them????

Already for 2015, I'll have Mewtwo DLC, Smash Bros OST, and whatever the Platinum reward is for this year (year ends June 30th).

Me too, though I picked Doc Louis's Punch-Out!! over the Mario hat for the 2009 Platinum reward and I mostly get VC games with my coins ( I also got a terrycloth "towel" that turned out to be a washcloth, Grill-Off with Ultra-Hand, Game & Watch Collection and an 8-bit Mario shirt ). It bugs the crap out of m that the EU & Japanese Club Nintendo get way better rewards than here in the US ( we get screen savers and game cases...Japan gets exclusive games, special edition systems and statues )

Can't wait to see what the next platinum reward choices are, already hit platinum months ago. I haven't missed platinum once since Club Nintendo started here and I don't ever intend to :) Also both excited to get my Smash soundtrack and worried about it. Worried because I have the entire Brawl OST and I don't want the 30 some odd tracks to be filled with Brawl tracks and multiple remixes of the same songs ( I may have the numbers wrong but iirc it's like 34 per disc or something, 1 for 3DS & 1 for Wii U )

I got one of the terrycloth towels and grill-off as well.
I just don't remember all the stuff I have off of the top my head.

We don't know how many songs are on each disc.
They have released part of the list, which is on promotion page for it.

Though I do have enough codes for platinum next year as well.
I'm already hording at least 600 coins worth of codes.

I think I might be the only one who actually likes Club Nintendo.

I'll be hoarding codes soon, especially since I'm definitely picking up Codename STEAM, Splatoon, Yoshi's Wooly World, Fossil Fighters Frontier and Star Fox. And I do like Club Nintendo, I just wish we could get Nintendoji, Zekkyo Senshi Sakeburein and more games like that here. Heck, I'd nerdgasm hard if they did official localized releases for Jam With The Band, the first 4 Starfy games or Soma Bringer through Club Nintendo, or even a re-release of Electroplankton. Better yet, Mother 3. I'd sacrifice games for my other systems to buy more Nintendo stuff just to get Mother 3.

I like the game but I feel like I just spent 500 dollars to play the exact same game I bought 13 years ago.. :|

I can see how it's much different from melee but I feel like I'm literally playing the exact same game now from brawl.. it's like they just copy and pasted everything with a few minor altercations.

It's a fighting game... what the heck did you expect?

The main differences are a couple of things:

1. Larger roster. It's quite huge now. The new characters are interesting and unique. I actually quite prefer this new roster over the one in Brawl. The only character I really dont touch now is Little Mac. Well, I dont really use the Marth Brigade either, rather tired of them already.

2. Better balance. Melee's balance was absolutely godawful. Brawl's was... okay, at best. This one... alot better. I've not found anyone I could call a "dud" character.

3. Pace of game increased. Brawl was considered a bit too slow by many people, so as a whole, the new one is faster.

4. Many characters received changes to their moveset. Typically, this means moves being entirely replaced, wether they were normals or specials. As a result, they tend to play quite differently. Though, at lower levels of play, this likely wont be that noticable. At high levels, it changes everything.

5. A bazillion new stages. Of course, if you're playing the bloody boring way, only on flat stages, this means little. Though, at the very least, each stage now has a flat version of itself, so you at least get different appearances for them instead of JUST Final Destination's loopy space theme.

And of course beyond that, it's all about single-player content (or optional content that can be used in single or multiplayer, such as character customization) in terms of what's new. Which, again, is typical for fighting games.

Also: The online is DRAMATICALLY better. The Wii practically choked on itself when playing online, and Brawl was... well, not the best game to play online, as fighters go. But this one? Ahhh, it works wonderfully, and there are multiple modes... even if I dont like most of them very much. At the very least it offers the 1 on 1 basic match type that so many are after.

Club Nintendo annoys me because there's so much cool exclusive merchandise I want to get, but I can only get it by buying craploads of Nintendo games and redeeming the codes. Some of us can't afford that!

Nearly all 3DS retail games come with codes, except for Ubisoft titles (they haven't joined the program).

It's pretty typical of any "register products and stuff happens" type of thing though.

If you're really into their stuff, it might be decently worth it, but other than that....

Is why I'm not going to bother registering. I've already nearly bought every conceivable thing I could want for the console and handheld.... which isnt very much, as they dont HAVE very much that I'd care about. I'd get next to nothing out of this bonus stuff, and the things they're offering on there dont seem that interesting to me anyway.

Never been fond of things like this from any company, really.

I just wish Nintendo would sell the merchandise separately. It's like when I find out about a cool Kickstarter reward package, only to find that it's already ended.
