Play older games purely for nostalgia?

I am currently buying loads of Gamecube and Xbox games on eBay and most are very cheap. Gamecube games are much more expensive though, Skies of Arcadia cost me 35 Euro.

YES! Skies of Arcadia! I have yet to have anyone around me who's actually played that game! The moment when I got to take control of a state-of-the-art warship (after having been relegated to a glorified fishing boat) is one of my fondest video-game memories.

As far as older games go, I remember playing 'Zombies Ate My Neighbors' on the Genesis back in summer. It was significantly harder than I remembered but at least now I got all of the little horror movie references that went over my head when I was little.

I like to play older adventure-games, especially those from Sierra. Nowadays they could better close down Sierra, to keep something of the real name...

Luckily there are some good fanmade games in the same style as the old adventures.

I really like Quest for Glory.


Playing the different parts of Command & Conquer is fun and Commandos.

I played the ocarina of time a couple of months ago when I started it up it actually hurt my eyes.

I didn’t have NES but in the second half of the 90’s I was an owner of Pegasus which is popularly called a Polish clone of NES. It was a CULT console here where I live. I got it as my birthday present when I was 11. I had many games and when I got bored with them, I exchanged them for different ones on a market where they were sold. I still keep all my cartridges although I don’t have the console which broke down somewhere in 1999. Yesterday I refreshed my memory on them searching for them in an online version. Majority of them are just as cool as I remembered them to be (maybe but the Pugsley one although back then it was one of my favorite). And these are my favorite games I had (I like them so much mostly for the nostalgic reasons, when yesterday I tried playing the ones I didn’t own in the past, I found them uninteresting) :

I'll do this too. Prime favorites are Starcraft, Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2, Missionforce: Cyberstorm, and various others that are compatible with Win XP (or if i can get it to work on it).

I don't play them purely for the nostalgia, I mostly play them because they're such great games.

Of course, I make an exception for the Final Fantasy games...I really can't stand forcing myself through those like I could when I was little, so I literally do play those purely for the nostalgia.

Balders Gate 2 And not only for the nostalgia. It's generally a great game to come back to anyway.

I replay lots of Square games, just about anything made for the SNES, PS and PS2. One because they are awesome games, two because I have wonderful memories from being a kid while playing those games.

I have found that many of my N64 and PS games can be rough on the eyes. 2D sprites actually look better now than the 3D stuff does.

I love older games, I've got all my old Nintendo consoles hooked up and ready to go whenever I want to play them. My favourite games are still the Donkey Kong games for SNES, I really wish they'd make another platform/adventure DK game. DK64 was the last good one.

I recently went searching for some old DOS games I used to play all the time. Most of them were just as good as I remember.

The Final Fantasies for nostalgia and gameplay are great. And then there's Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. That game has probably the greatest replay value of any game I've ever had the pleasure of playing.

Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon: Another Story is a really fun game. It is one of the best games I've played hehe mainly because I'm obsessed with the anime.

I play Harry Potter 1 and 2 on the original Playstation for nostalgia. EXTREME nostalgia... It's the best feeling in the world to play those games for me. Nothing equals it...

I also play Dino Crisis but I find that game fun as well as nostalgic.

Alien Trilogy is another game, though not as fun or nostalgic.

Nostalgia is the best feeling in the world, I live for it even if living in the past isn't a good thing to do.
