Civilization VII

with OS and YS.
YS commented he got a Mark 5. I had no idea what that was. He sent a picture, and it was an old timey tank. Old Great War (WWI) tanks look so interesting.
He know much more about those things.

Post note:
The game is played in three acts. YS has set up for 240 per act. In act 3, OS won the game in 43 turns because he was making an absurd about of science per turn (1000+)

Starting a new game. This time I will excel as Ada Lovelace. (the problem I may have is I really do not like attacking other independent countries, and I don't dare attack YS or OS. OS isn't so bad, but YS will run over me. He takes games very seriously. OS does not, but he is very good. I take games the least serious.

Vietnam War

I am a child of the 1960s, so the idea that there is a game based on the Vietnam War seems like the last thing I would buy. it was an accident. YS has a WishList in Steam, and for Christmas, I buy the games that are available, that I can afford, that he wants. I bought Vietnam War, but omitted to assign it as a gift for YS. So I kept it, and bought another copy for him.

Once in the game, explored the jungle, got attacked by a tiger, ended up in a wheelchair, got better, realized I had a group of guys following around. Two were crawling around.

Returned to the jungle. Mister Frodo! Elephants! Explosions and gun fire ahead. RUN AWAY! RUN AWAY! Headed back to the base. Hello Mister Elephant. Cross through streams and kept thinking about my feet and socks. Thanks Forest Gump. Running along, and there is blood splatter along the edge of the screen. I ignore it, just as I would in real life. Run run run. More blood splatter. Okay. What's causing that? Look around. Hi little monkey. It attacks me and I wake up in the Med Tent, again.

I got the Angry Monkey Achievement and the Wheels Until Heals Achievement
I just learned YS shot a snake on the base, got blown up in a mortar strike, survived, went on patrol, shot up a village, shot an elephant. That will make Sam Wise cry.

Zork I

Oh I am not playing it right now but I've had The Longing running.



It's a quiet, cozy game about loneliness and existential anguish.

The king is sleeping, his kingdom has crumbled, his subjects have deserted him. All that remains is one small uncertain Shade. And all the Shade has to do is wait, because in 400 days, the king will awaken, and all fear and loneliness will be at an end.

I like to have it running in the background. The shade can wander through the vast labyrinthine network of tunnels or sit reading in his comfy chair... I find him good company. Sometimes I poke him so that he will make friends, play music, etc.

I think it is a very well-made game and it is the only game I've played that I would class as art. But it is not exactly exciting sometimes if you are exploring you have to wait a week for an interesting-looking door to open or for moss to grow or a stalactite to fall or what-have-you.

^^^_ kuen, I have not played The Longing, but I would play that game purely for the graphics. I've bought games on Steam for the exact same reason.

Currently playing the web based game Cookie Clicker
It is the perfect game to "play" in the background once you have enough cookies to trade in for automation.
(Warning, too many grandma bakers and weird things happen. I avoid too many grandma bakers.)
This is a game that can last anywhere from minutes to years.

(we had to cut Civilization 7 short because OS had some school stuff to take care of. OS and YS claim I'm doing pretty good, for a change. That last part is my comment, for a change.)
