Im Genuinely Interested In Knowing Why Everyone Who Does Game, Games. I Started By Playing James Bond Goldeneye On N64, And I Loved How It Had A Great Story, And How It Tied With The Film. I Liked Playing As I Wished On Most Games, Sneaking Around, Or Blasting It All Down. The Fact Such Realism Can Be Involved In A Virtual World Just Mystifies Me. Imaganitive Enemies, Characters, Weapons, Enviroments, Games Are Just Awesome.

I Remember One Point, When Playing Gears Of War Or Something Like That, I Wouldnt Talk To Anyone, Wouldnt Look Away, Wouldnt Even Blink Without At Least 2 Minutes In Between Each Blink (No Joke).

Gaming Also Teaches Me Things, Like Big Words Like Mystifies. (Yeah, I Used It Up There).

And So, I Put It to You, That I Ask,

Why Do You Game?

I have gamed for almost as long as I have been alive, so that may have something to do with it. I just find it more enjoyable than other forms of entertainment or recreation. It's fun to explore new worlds and blow stuff up. :P Movies, TV, and books can be enjoyable, but they don't allow you to interact very much, like games do. Most sports are just too tedious and painful for me.

I game because I like the challenge of being able to complete it. Rarely do I leave a game unfinished. Most games I play I try my hardest to complete. I remember when I was a kid finishing Contra a number of times. And Legend of Zelda was a personal favorite of mine. Also the King's Quest series. And Space Quest. I am currently playing Knights of the Old Republic 2. I want to be able to complete it having ALL my companions turned into Jedi or Sith.

^^ Quite true

Other than that: the sense of excitment, the sense of achieving (those lovely 360 achievements, mmmm...), visual pleasure, which I think is also heightened amongst ASD people as we tend to have better visual acuity and in general we rely a lot on visual perception, mere curiosity of discovering new worlds, carachters, way to do things, identification with cool and winning carachters, the sense of control, a good dose of repetition and, if you play live, the pleasure of beating a real human

I game to explore. I have enough challenges (euphemism for "pain in the ass") in real life. So I play sandbox or open ended games on easy difficulty in order to explore the environment and interact with characters. Games such as ARMA (arma2 is out!! !!), Far Cry, Age of Empires, Grand Theft Auto, Morrowind, Oblivion, Flight Simulator... you get the idea.

Videogames are great because they always give me something to do when I have time on my hands and when there's nothing exciting going on in my life. They filter the dull and boring hours I would endure if they weren't there.

To escape reality, to have some fun, for the narrative.

I think initially I go for the entertainment but I'm quite passionate about a good story and love a deep immersive game, but I like the odd mindless shoot em up/slash em up :P

First game was on the N64? I've been gaming longer than that. I was even trying to hack the games too. Try some games from the 80's early 90's. They were fun, yet addictive

Video games are a massive ongoing part of my life for numerous reasons. I'm an only child and it gave me an escape and a "hobby" as well as a sense of accomplishment. i was also a sickly child so I could achieve things while being stuck inside. On top of that it helped me to be able to communicate with peers believe it or not. Never had to think about what to say- just talked about video games. I still drift to them for the challenge and sense of accomplishment. I also like the cinematic nature of newer games. It's like a movie tailored to my ADHD that lets me control the movie to a certain extent. All the unlockables draw me in as well. I'm a dyed in the wool completionist. I could go on and on.

I guess I like the idea of knowing I am good at something, I also like the feel that I can be in total control of an enviroment or the total bad a$$ in said envirment. One of my favirout are The Darkness where I can become a monster and tear people apart, or in Halo being able to take on a whole army. Lately I had been wanting a game where I could go on a toatl rampage and decimate many lives and have some resistance but not something like Grand Theft Auto, perfect thing was Prototype, now now I can dominate an infested military filled New York. My weakness in games is when I feel powerless, or things like monsters which can do a lot of damage to me can appear from anywhere, basicly survival horors, cant stand a limited amount of health where it can be lost so easily, though I do enjoy a story of such games, I can't even play Bioshock for long.

My favorite types of games are RPGs. I like to build characters from the ground up, see how they develop. And if the game is smart enough how the characters develop affects the environment. I like games that change based on your choices. Dynamic games like that are always what draw me in more so than linear shoot-em up games. Open-world, sandbox RPGs are truly my favorites.

I Also Game For The Real World Satisfation. I Tell People Ive Done Something Like Collected The Experimental MIRV From Fallout 3, And Other Gamers Are Always Asking Me For Help On Most Games Because They Know Im Good.

I Also Game For The Sense Of Doing Something. Achievements, Affecting The Game World, Taking, saving Or Giving Lives As I Please. Basically Kicking In Heads And Causing A Mess Without Haveing To Clean It Up Or Get In Trouble Afterwards.

Boredom and escapism. Plus, the ability to add whatever I want to certain games and feel like I'm expanding my own virtual world.
