I love both games..can play them for hours on end. Also, I miss the days of Simcity...that was a great game.

Never played 4, but 2 is one of the greatest ever... must have sunk thousands of hours into that one.

Civ 2 is consistently ranked as one of the greatest computer games of all time...I spent hours playing it and strategizing...I think that was the game that turned me onto History, which is one my obessions.

I played SimCity Societies after SimCity 4 and it was just...what? What have they done? This isn't SimCity. It's a cutesy plop'n'place game. It's Cooking Mama on a power trip.

Civilization is a great game series as well. I remember installing Civilization 2 onto a school computer. Fun times.

Oh god, civ2. Total awesomeness, I played it a lot. I liked simcity4 as well.

Civ 4 is awesome too, but mostly now because I can mod it. (I generally like modding games more then actually playing then  )

Making gold worth 100x as much is awesome, you reaaally want to have that piece of land sooner then later!

I still play Civ 4 from time to time. And, I used to play the Avalon Hill board game version back in the day. Good stuff.

I started playing Civ when the third came out. I recall trying 4 once or twice and got irritated that it was different than 3.

These days, I settle for Revolution because it's all I've got.

I played a lot of Civ III back in the day. Civ IV I play regularly still, love that game, especially Beyond the Sword expansion. I love invading continents, taking a few cities, then granting them independence as my puppet state that does all the fighting for me. And the espionage meter is pretty awesome as well

Same. 2 and 4 were some of the best games ever. So many sleepless nights in high school playing Civ II. 3 was Ok, but I can't seem to get into 5 that much. Also loved the SimCity games.

I don't know if this is just me or if it might be an Aspie thing:

Does anyone else not like resuming saved games in games like Civ or SimCity and prefer to start over every time? I always save when I am done playing with the intention of resuming it later but I always end up starting completely over because I think I can do it better or want to try it in a different style.

Civ 2 ate my early teenage years.

Civ 3 didn't suck me in as much, but I still spent tonnes of time playing it. Civ 4 was better but I only played it through twice. Civ 5 is good but hasn't sucked me in like 2 did.

Now I've switched to Europa Universalis III, which is much more dry and micro-managery but now I feel like I'm actually running a nation state. Civ was more fun, but EU is more worthy.

Civ II music still often gets stuck in my head, and I've not played it in nearly a decade!

Shining Path or Aristotle's Pupil?

Hammurabi's Code is the one that gets stuck in my head the most often. Augustus Rises can eff right off though.

Civ 3 had such rubbish music in comparison, apart from its Ancient era theme. Bronze Age rave!
