I have this game and I completed it a long while ago.

I think it is a vibrant game, although a bit short.

Haven't played Mafia II, but i did play "Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven". Awesome game one of my all time favourites. If anyone has played both games, i wouldn't mind if you can share your thoughts about how the second one lived up to the original.

I did so, the storyline and the cutscenes live up to each other. Ofcourse 2 has better graphics and combat system and there are more things to do in the last part.

If I'm not mistaken Mafia II takes place in New York City. The original Mafia's city (LH) was just incredible. It really transported you back to 1930's America. So it seems that M2 is at least on par with M1. If so I must try to get my hands on it.

I nearly bought it, but they released DLC at the same time as the game itself, and the cynical commercialism implied bad things about the game and convinced me not to send any money to the developers.

I bought the first Mafia during the Steam sale a few weeks ago. I feel the game is very linear, but the atmosphere is great, and the characters and story make the game worth my time (and $2.50).

Nothing to say about Mafia II, though. I'm running a fairly crappy laptop and am trying to save playing anything post-2008 (just for the sake of having a date) until I build a new desktop over the summer.
