The Strange Case of Chrono Trigger's Robo and Rick Astley

This is actually very old, but has anyone else realized that Robo's Theme, the leitmotif for the character of the same name in Chrono Trigger, has more than a passing resemblance to Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" (aka "Rick Roll")? I knew Chrono Trigger before I first heard about Rick Rolling, but I associated both songs almost immediatelly. Here is a mashup of both songs:

This brings a completely new spin to Chrono Trigger's plot. Could it be that Lavos desire for destroying the world had a deeper reason than mere animal instinct? Could he be just another unfortunate victim of a Rick Roll, blind with rage against the perpetrators of such a heinous act? We will never know.

Anybody else made the connection between both songs before?

Yeah, I thought that Robo's Theme would be good for Rickrolling because they sounded similar. This was, like, five years ago.

They do sound alike.
