video game character rivalry

that's the only thing i can describe it as.

not in the games mind you, but like. fans of kefka generally hate sephiroth, they say seph is a horrible villain.

i don't get it. each final fantasy is a separate story so of course each cast is going to be different. like squall fans hate cloud. it's like they expect cloud to be the same as squall.

if all the games were the same or similar it would be boring.

each ff villain adds something to each game of the series and all play their roles quite well. a villain is suppose to make things difficult for the hero and give something for the hero to overcome. even if the hero is not exactly a good guy, like in infamous kessler fills his role on the hero side and infamous side. on hero he is the one you are trying to stop, in infamous side he is more of a rival and the game turns into a power-struggle.

either way the story's plot works.

in other words seph plays the villain role as good as any other, he made things hard for cloud and gave cloud something to overcome. and each one has there own style. like kefka's style is pure insanity, i personally don't like insane characters but i still say kefka does fill the role he plays well. i will not say he has a bad villain because if i was in terra's place i wouldn't like him either. so he is a good villain.

why can't some people just admit all the villains play their roles pretty damn good. like vayne is a tactics person and operates from the background. meanwhile bowser in mario is more of the active type and is more likely to come at mario himself. same with robotnick in sonic.

i come across this alot. i started noticing it after the wave of xemnas bashing came roaring through the net, he is often compared to ansem or otherwise known as his heartless. so yeah they basically xemnas is not as good as himself O_o if you don't get that either i don't feel bad. like sora is worse then roxas who is sora.

this last one drives me crazy cause i can't figure it out, makes no sense.

I think the stupidest character rivalry is Link vs. Cloud. Which hero is better? They both have to battle their respective villans multiple times because Ganondorf and Sephiroth never seem to stay dead. Link can be revived by faeries, Cloud can be revived by Auto-Life materia.

i know and not to mention they come from different games with different worlds and different rules.

but don't get me wrong i don't mind if people like a different character then me, but the battles espeashily on youtube get nasty. someone can simply post a gameplay video and 80% of the time the viewers will start a dang war in the comments.

heck i was watching the dissidia battle it was just a person showing off texture hacks for warrior to make him look like xemnas, xemnas won the fight and there is a xemnas\sephiroth war in the comments.

i bet the person playing the game likes both of them, i am the same way. i'm a bit more on the xemnas side. but i don't trash on seph because of it. i pick on both equally actually. and if seph is in a video you can nearly bet on a kefka\seph war.

it's stupid, i don't like certain characters but i don't go and fight with someone that likes them just because they like a character i don't, it's none of my business what they choose.

but yeah i see this all the time try to look at all games seperately when it comes to characters at least.

but yeah both cloud and link have taken down not only the main villains over and over but countless huge beasts and fought many epic battles. so they really are cool in their own rights. another one before crisis core was made was the zack is better then cloud war, i saw this on devaint art for the longest time. i personally like both, i like zack for his easy going, laid back, attitude. and alot of the lines he says in crisis core and in the secret cutscene in ff7. and cloud is basicly keep zack's memory alive not to mention he is a great swordsmen and really should have gotten in soldier. but zack and cloud are polar opposites zack is more upbeat cloud is more serious, and it's funny watching the two interact. honestly i had to chuckle every so often in crisis core when zack was talking to cloud who was passed out and oblivious. they need to have more interactions between these two.

but i still don't get what they think makes one character better then another when it is all personal preference.

SPOILERS: I think Roxas is Soras nobody but in Vens body. Ventus lost his memory in the darkness. Ansem the Wise brought some of Sora's memory to Ventus. Ventus became Roxas as a failsafe if Sora did not wake. Roxas believed he was the true Sora. Xion is a backup of Sora as well but since her events were explained in 358/2 Days, I need not explain. Roxas was defeated and at the end of KH2 blended with Sora so Ven is again without a memory.
I blame Ansem the Wise in all of this.

not really spoilers to me since i played 358 and bbs, but as of the events technically roxas and sora are one and the same. the same can be said abut xemnas and xehanort both are a combo of terra and master xehanort.

i think though that mx is is in the heartless body, and terra is the nobody. but i will never know for sure as i have stopped following the story after bbs. ice cream beat was made by the devil himself, and is the reason i have only played it once, i have played all others multiple times except bbs.

but anyway seeing how the two act xemnas is more like terra, it's just he has no heart so he doesn't know if what he is doing is right or wrong and can't care to know the differance anyway.

xehanort the heartless is more like master xehanort in how he acts.

but that is only a theory of mine.

All I care about now (relating to Kingdom Hearts) is Sora forming a Pact with Neku to survive the Reapers' Game.

I can see what you mean. Terra when he has no feelings at the beginning does seem like Xemnas. Master Xehanort and Xehanort's Heartless obsession of wanting power, can see how that is possible which I think is the part of the darkness that you fight at the end of Terra's story. SPOILER: Hence he says that he made sure that he did not have just Terra that he can control in the ending of BBS. Obviously then leaving Master Xehanort to unite within Terra's body and becoming Xemnas which is not really a spoiler.

yeah he said there was something else, when him and terra were trash talking eachother, he mentioned that there was a third power he had control of, which got a shocked reaction on terra's face. so it seems master xehanort has more control over terra's body then terra does. freaky when you think about it.

have a bit of both in him, but i think terra has more power, because they act alot like, not exactly but similar.

and the heartless may have a bit of terra in him as well.

it might be that third power that causes a bit of an inbalance. or maybe i'm thinking to much.

anyway, i'm always happy to find out more about xemnas and his other halves.

yeah the story as a whole makes little sense anymore, i never knew about the boy with the clock on his hand before so i couldn't care less. if anything because i take no interest in alot of kingdom hearts after 2 with the exception of terra's story in bbs. i don't like how they keep changing the story every game.

what i want to see is the destruction of hollow bastion, it was talked about alot during the first and second games and then nothing. i believe alot of important stuff happened at that point and besides it would just be awesome to see.

There's no problem with discussing who's the best villian, hero, whatever. It's pretty stupid though if people are more interested in defending their favorite than evaluating the others on their own merits.

As for Kingdom Hearts that story is a mess. Really annoying that they distributed the game among like seven game devices.

Yeah, too bad nobody actually uses logic to evaluate a character's moveset. Because character battles are nothing more than popularity contests.

yeah, i like a good character debate, but the fight that happens between some people when discussing characters get really ugly, and can happen if someone even mentions a character of almost any kind.

someone watches a racing car video and says "that car is as fast as sonic" and a huge shadow\sonic war breaks out. i've seen ps3\xbox wars on nintendo wii videos and i'm thinking O_o. if fine with console rivalry as long as it does get to the point of personal attacks. and it happens to much.

kingdom hearts is messed up i don't disagree there. i still wonder why they thought making a phone game that has alot of ties to the story and only make it on japanese phones, take about screwing everyone else. out of all the games this one still blows my mind.

then they had to remake the game a second time. if they would have made the ds version first wouldn't that have been the smart choice.

but yeah the story doesn't make sense and i'm not going to keep buying consoles to keep up with it. if i am that curious i'll wait till it is plastered all over youtube. i still remember when the bbs secret ending was leaked and youtube was having a battle with the uploaders. it kept getting reposted all day, it was funny.
