Talk about a gut punch. Here I was thinking the game could never get any better, and now it never will. I sure hope they intend to release the source code, or at least a proper editor.

Any other Terraria fans here? Probably the best 10 bucks I've ever spent on a game.

Hmm, why would they quit? I'd imagine that game was a cash cow to them?

I'm sure it will still be a cash cow for them for some time to come, but they cited the usual culprit for throwing away loads of money: family and soul searching.

It was really only a couple of guys coding and doing art. They made money, I don't get why they couldn't bring on hires.

My guess is something like dealing with fame. Some guys make a game in their proverbial garage but it suddenly becomes a huge hit. Suddenly the hobby turned into a job. They probably have no idea how to run a business. Besides all the book keeping there is also either succumbing to the fame or the pressure. Partying every day sounds fun but it gets err unfulfilling pretty quick (look up ennui).

They no doubt have good job prospects when they decide to move on anyway.
