Recurring obsession for me. It started with a couple when I was a kid -- Axis & Allies and Strat-O-Matic Baseball. Dominated huge chunks of my childhood. I was that kid playing Axis & Allies for countless hours... by myself.

My wife's 10 year old has, much to my delight, allowed me to indulge, again, as he's also into ridiculously complicated Euro and/or Wargames. We spent four hours on a rather tense game of Twilight Struggle just recently. Some others we play with -- Carcassone, Pandemic, Battle Cry/Memoir '44.

If I didn't have a strong leash on myself, I'd have a gargantuan collection we'd never get around to playing. Any other fans of chits and meeples and whatnots?

We can get a group together to play most board games online. All it takes is finding the module or someone who can scan it all in and put it together.

I have a very large collection of boardgames myself. I find I really enjoy the Fantasy Flight companies games, especially Mansions of Madness. Also, anything by Steve Jackson Games are a lot of fun for the sheer sillieness of them.

Axis and Allies was great game it takes so long to set up though >_>

I like Life, Monopoly, Sorry, Chinese Checkers. Really I can be looped into playing almost any board or card game just wished I hung around people who feel the same.

I can't play overly complicated board games. A friend of mine is really into them, but I have limits. With that said, there is one card game called Munchkin that's simple enough that even I can get into, and it has turned into a bit of an obsession for me. It's actually a series of games, which can be combined, or played on their own, and each has its own expansions, then there are the boosters, which can be played with any set. It isn't nearly as complicated as it sounds though. It's just good fun. The game itself isn't meant to be taken too seriously, which helps make it more enjoyable for someone like myself. The rules don't make my head explode, and any ambiguity in the rules actually works in the game's favor(you'd have to play it to get what I mean). There's very little math involved, which is also a plus, and it's really just simple addition and subtraction anyways. Oh, and the game doesn't take a million years to set up, and clean up, even if decks have been combined, and need to be sorted out(though that can take some time).

I remember an online version of Settlers of Cattan that was pretty fun. Me and my friend used to play together and we'd used to single out another person then try and turtle the game long enough for them to quit. Pretty silly now that i think about it now but, we used to get a laugh about it it the time.

Other then that we used to play all sorts of board games when i was growing up. Another nice "World War" game was Supremacy and Mega Supremacy based on the Cold War and the potential for WW3. You spent most of the game going into debt building Chemical, Biological, Nuclear and, Conventional weapons. Double Dealling other players behind thier backs. Then eventually someone would attack someone else. Invariably the game would end in Nuclear Winter when someone would Nuke someone else or themselves in a scorched earth attack. After that the Nukes would fly until the limit was reached. Then the game was over and nobody won. It was glorious!

I always wanted to play Tigris and Euphrates; how is it? Same for Othello and Go.
