Awkward LS PS2 game
So, dem big ol' cats told me there was a Lucky Star game for PS2. I went ahead and checked it out. Apparently it's like most other games with the removal of gameplay. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........ This isn't a game. It's like the Stanley Parable traded the walking around and clicking on things for THREE choices. So, this just tried to rely on awesome cutscenes, but these are just still images with text boxes. The DS did this, but it was excusable because there might not have been the technology for using in-game models for a lot of the cutscenes. This, however, is the PS2. So, this game is just not a game. All that's left are the graphics. Now, even the graphics, the thing that normally matters the least matters here. And even the graphics are horrible. The faces just look like OUCH. ouch, man. Oh, and no language select. [3 2 1] OKAY WELL THAT JUST SUCKS WHAT IN THE NAME OF JASON GOES TO PHARMACY DOES THIS QUALIFY AS ANYTHING RESEMBLING A GAME!?! !??! THAT WAS POINTLESS, HORRIBLE, Okay, that's not happening again. Sorry you had to read that. But anyway, the game sucks and SPLEH.
This, this is why you should research things before jumping into them.
I had a look at this, and the first thing I can tell you: It's a visual novel. Pretty much exactly as it sounds.... it's meant purely for the story, and usually has next to no actual gameplay. Ends up being sorta like one of those old "choose your own adventure" books where you're given a couple of choices every now and then, and choosing one branches the story along a different path. But yeah, it's all about the text, with the visuals being there just to aid it all. It's not about the cutscenes at all. You're essentially reading a book, here.
Secondly.... there's usually no language options in a Japan-only release, which is what this is. There are exceptions to this rule: The shmup genre, for example, those games are very often Japan only, but most of the time, for reasons unknown to me, will have all of the menus and such in english. This sometimes happens with fighting games too, I think. But most other things.... particularly something with lots of text.... will never be in english unless it's being released outside of Japan.
And third..... I dunno what you expected from a Lucky Star game. It's an anime where there really isnt a central plot.... the characters mostly talk about random stuff alot with humor thrown in.
I will say though that I dont know exactly WHY "visual novels" are thought of and released as games.... always just seems strange to me. I can understand something like this being on PC, but on console.... just baffles me. It IS a popular thing in Japan though, where this sort of game is very common.
Again though, always always always research something like this before you buy (or download) it.

Uh, these visual novels sound like DVD games. This should be a DVD game, not a console game. It would make more sense. And also, there is an MMO in the series. That should be a game. I think Konata, Kagami, Tsukasa and Nanako would be other party members and the rest would probably be NPCs. Both in-universe NPCs and other players. I think the plot would be the plot of the MMO, a hacker trying to break the servers, or just random missions. Sounds like a good RPG, if I do say so myself. I think that intentional exploits and glitches would probably be the advantages of different enemies and stuff, occasionally. I think that some bosses would be hackers [like the noclip guy from one scene in the OVA if you look closely]. Okay, I just written a whole paragraph and if nobody hires me for ideas I'm going to question logic itself.
