This is the start of a high level GURPS campaign that I will be running. While it’s a sequel/reboot of a campaign I ran a few years back, it should nonetheless stand on its own. It’s quite insane and we welcome enthusiastic role-players who can bring their own brand of insanity to the proceedings…….

It's also "Roll20" supported so it can be played anywhere in the world:

I will be running it from Vermont this Sunday (2pm EST) and we even have a few people playing from the other side of the country (Arizona.) If successful, it may run several sessions. Here are some details:

The Exodus of Pangaea

*Background:*

The realm of Pangaea. An ancient and feral world populated by gigantic beasts, primal magic and breathtaking environments. For Millennia it survived as a lush ecosystem of natural order…….

Centuries ago that balance was lost and a world of relative peace was plunged into war, genocide, religious dogma and environmental devastation……..

Until one day, a band of champions lead by a mad necromancer known as “The Reanimator” seized control. Bringing the world back from the brink of destruction and putting an end to generations of warfare…….

Harnessing the vast power of an artifact that fell from the sky, the heroic demon raised an overwhelming army of undead that threatened to consume all sides. Each faction halted their incursions lest they add more numbers to the Reanimator’s vast horde. A peace treaty was soon struck……..

Today, over 100 years since the “War of the Star,” rumors of the Reanimator’s demise have begun to spread across the realm as the vast continent spanning horde appears weakened and listless. The shackles of mutually assured destruction that have maintained the peace for over a century have begun to collapse……..

With another great war seemingly inevitable, strange otherworldly distortions have begun to occur as cracks begin to appear in the sky. Something powerful is brewing and it threatens to destroy everything……

Pangaea needs a new band of champions…….

Who will answer the call?

For your hero, you will be tasked with making a character to represent one of the 3 factions below. While skilled in combat and/or magic, you’re characters will also be considered diplomats and will be meeting up to investigate what happened to the Reanimator and potentially avoid a war…….

*Factions you can choose from:*

The Drägonböurne Monarchies

During the War of the Star, they were a vast tyrannical empire that ruled over half the continent with an iron claw. The Drägonböurne people have since regressed back into their ancestral packs, more concerned with politics and bloodlines than world conquest. Nevertheless, with the apperent collapse of the Reanimator’s horde, the 13 houses have begun talks of a resurgence to glory.

Resembling cross between a dinosaur and a dragon, most raptors in the Drägonboürne’s armies are fierce and cunning warriors. It is the mages, however, that wield most of the power and influence among the packs. Each house is run by a powerful Warlock believed to derive their powers from Bazazail, the Angel of Natural Selection.

Mostly territorial and isolationist, the few Drägonböurne who are found outside of traditional territorial bounds are usually their as a result of exile. They are often viewed with suspicion if not direct hostility but can nonetheless be righteous allies among the more trusting races.

The Sapien Republic

During the War of the Star, the Sapien’s brought with them a massive and incredibly organized Army from a across the ocean and spread across the land in vast strategic formations that left nothing but devastation in their wake. The races that tried to resist were typically cut down by vastly superior weapons or utterly annihilated with mysterious and powerful runic magic that could destroy entire forests through flood, famine or flame.

Since the war, the Apes have retreated back to their homeland. The hundreds of miles of forests that were cut down and vast bodies of polluted water have finally begun to recover. The vast cities, industry and agriculture that once devastated the land have begun to feel like a distant memory. Nonetheless rumors of covert navel incursions and scouting parties from the West have fueled speculation of another invasion.

Monotheistic and worshiping an entity of intelligent design they refer to as "Deus." Sapiens (think Planet of the Apes) are generally well known for their use of technology, powerful runic enchantments and religious fanaticism. Save for a small number of pilgrims who have stayed behind as traders and diplomats, direct interactions with the Sapiens are generally rare. Apes who forgo the ways of their homeland to advocate peace and live among the general population are not unheard of, however.

The League of Beasts

Formed out of desperation during the War of the Star, the League is made up of dozens of disaffected races who found themselves being exterminated, enslaved or displaced by Drägonböurne and Sapien’s global conflict. With the help of The Reanimator, their greatest champions managed to bring the devastating war to a standstill. While officially allied with the Reanimator, they nevertheless allowed him to maintain his own vast territory

Today, while only loosely connected and divided among factions and clans, predators and prey, the League races have a generally maintained a philosophy of respect and cooperation to ensure natural order and a future for their races. Each faction elects one representative to join a diplomatic organization called “The Order of the Egg” to ensure peaceful resolution of any conflict.

Examples of League races include, the great bears of the North, the silicon based Chimerakin of the sand mountains, the jackalope spirits of the sacred forest, the whale guardians, sabre-toothed protomammals, the Krakenkin, the hive-minded Legion rats, the gargantuan thunder lizards and any other type of similarly interesting and crazy race you can think of (just run it by me first ).

If you are interested, by all means hit me back with any questions and character ideas you can imagine and I will help you design a hero. I will post a facebook link to the campaign when I get homke from work.

How difficult would it be for a GURPS noob to play into that one?

I use a modified version of the gurps system. It's a little simpler and more cinematic.
