Do you have a favorite Super Mario role-playing series or just a favorite game in particular? Write it on here!

It's really a hard decision but if I had to choose I would say the Paper Mario series.

Paper Mario by far.

Although, I haven't played Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

Isn't Super Mario Galaxy an RPG series too, though?

Super Mario RPG is fantastic and I totally recommend it.

Super Mario Galaxy is not an RPG.

SMRPG is one of the best RPG's on the SNES. The Superstar series and Paper Mario games I've played feel shallow, linear, and oversimplified in comparison.

Super Mario RPG hands down. I would have picked Paper Mario as Thousand Year Door is my favorite Mario RPG, but Super Paper Mario was primarily a platformer and Sticker Star was such a huge letdown ( battles merely waste resources and the final boss is the cheapest POS I have experienced ). I love the Mario & Luigi series ( wish AlphaDream's other GBA RPG, Tomato Adventure, got localized... ), but haven't played Dream Team yet and feel like there's just the story with no side quests in the series....

Side note: I wish AlphaDream, developer of the Mario & Luigi series, could do a Mario & Sonic RPG. It would mean a Mario & Sonic crossover that isn't just another Olympics game, and Sonic could be in a good RPG...

That's debatable, but hey, that's what opinions are for :P . Don't get me wrong, Super Paper Mario is a decent game, I just don't like how they changed the gameplay from it's predecessors. If it weren't for the story I would have stopped playing it about half way.

Curious...which parts do you not agree with? Just to clarify 1 thing, I loved Super Paper Mario but the gameplay didn't feel too RPG-ish to me.

I could be wrong, but aren't they all the same series in Japan?

Either way, I count them as such. Only one I've beat was Paper Mario for N64 though...got really far in the SNES one, but it was a rental, never did beat it. Maybe one of these days I'll give it a serious run-through on emulation or something.

Of the three, I find the Mario and Luigi games too generic to my liking. Paper Mario is fun, and SMRPG:LOTSS is one of my favorites from when I was younger.
